@helmers_h @Prof_Murdoch @misswalsingham That’s what I was thinking! Maybe if there’s a document from 1.01.02 underpinning Seton/Gray in the Nationaal Archief Cockburn could be in there. More than happy to pass on the TNA refs, I’ll shoot you a PM!

@helmers_h @Prof_Murdoch @misswalsingham In April 1623, cols. John Seton and Andrew Gray both tried to negotiate with the SG for men, possibly for Mansfeld. In both TNA lists, Cockburn appears with Gray. Maybe in Gray's 1620 levy then, @Prof_Murdoch do you have muster roll for that? Seems like this must all be linked?

@helmers_h @Prof_Murdoch @misswalsingham A Sgt. Mjr. Cockburn appears in two lists for Mansfeld's officers in 1624 in TNA, happy to share those references with you! Quite possibly Peter Cockburn: a number of officers transferred in 1627 from the Anglo-Dutch expedition to Denmark at that time, all based around Stade.

Delighted to say that my latest article has just been published in the Mariner's Mirror @NauticalHistory. It's about pirates, fish, and seafarers - and how they all fit together as part of a wider Atlantic 'political ecology' in the early 17th century. doi.org/10.1080/002533…

For the small number of people who might be interested in priests squabbling about Jesuit curriculum and its use for the Catholic mission in Scotland, my recent article on the subject is now available! cambridge.org/core/journals/…

Said it before but Alexander Leslie and the Scottish Generals of the Thirty Years' War, 1618–1648 (Steve Murdoch and Alexia Grosjean) is one of my favourite books on the Thirty Years' War & 17th century Scottish military #history. A must read for those interested in that period.
