@KatyKing2 @apex_acoustics @theheatinghub @heatpolicyrich @janrosenow Reading this in summary about increases being 2-8db(A). At 40dB, increase of 10dB is equivalent to DOUBLING noise (as its logarithmic). If policy allows 42db(A)…. +8db, & say another +6dB(A) tonality, I’d suggest there’s a significant risk to rollout. Would welcome challenge.

@KatyKing2 @apex_acoustics @theheatinghub @heatpolicyrich @janrosenow Struggling to do detailed read on phone so sorry if it’s included/a limitation, but has tonality been factored in? It’s recognised omission of MCS020 that tonality isn’t included. BS4142 acknowledges up to +6dB(A) impact. How does this factor in? Critical friend here as always x

@KatyKing2 @apex_acoustics @theheatinghub @heatpolicyrich @janrosenow Great that more research is coming out. On limitations: - assumes linear housing layout that isn’t universal - “not significantly greater” is a tagline that could be wangled by Jan & the myth crew, & should be handled with care. It is greater, & significance is subjective.

@the_woodlouse No idea. @JackH_C may be in a better position to provide a gut instinct. (Overhead is good on bathroom doors as avoids draft risks when wet and in birthday suit.)

@UKHSA Great to see @UKHSA's work on the adverse effects of #noise & how that is distributed. Road traffic noise receives far too little attention compared with the huge impact it has on so many people's lives. Thank you @sierraclark2 Ben Fenech et al!

High levels of noise can certainly be a nuisance, but it can also have a significant impact on our health. A new study led by UKHSA looks at how noise can affect health and wellbeing. Read more about the study and its finding in our blog: ukhsa.blog.gov.uk/2023/06/29/noi…

Had an absolute wonderful time presenting on noise burden of disease at the #ICBEN2023 conference in Belgrade, and re-connecting with, and meeting new, environmental health and noise research colleagues! @stephaniegrady0 @EulaliaPeris
