Jarred Kelenic is red-hot, including a week in which he hit 4 HRs in 4 consecutive days. After batting practice today, we talked about what has changed. Kelenic, 26, is a former first-round draft pick of the Mets who has had over 1,300 at bats in the past 5 seasons with the Mariners and the Braves, with modest results given his pedigree. The White Sox are hoping they can help Kelenic unleash his massive potential. I have to think he’ll get an extended look in Chicago at some point this season, especially if he stays on this current heater. Being in your early 40s is weird, man. People around your age are in every stage of life. You have people who are grandparents. You have people who have newborns. You have people dating 25-year-olds. You have people celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary. Some of them look 60, and some of them look 30. All the bases are covered when you are in your early 40s.

There is just a ton of warm water across the Pacific, with a strong to severe marine heatwave conditions extending from the Marshall Islands all the way to the California coastline. Expect a very humid summer in Southern California, along with major impacts on marine ecosystems. With a strengthening, potentially Super El Niño expected by autumn, if there were ever a year for a hurricane to make landfall in SoCal, this would be it. We’ll be watching closely for El Niño to rapidly emerge in the coming weeks.
