🧵 I've been at Driveline for almost 3 months and I've learned more about player development than I ever thought possible If you're a college/high school coach wanting to turn your hitters into ANIMALS, this thread is for you 👇

First full year of consistent at-bats. 2nd Team All-SAA. Sawyer came in, got tested, identified what needed to change, and put the work in. .430 wOBA | .922 OPS | 117 wRC+

The bat path change started here. Came in swinging fast, just in the wrong direction. Bat Speed: 67.9 mph → 73.5 mph Attack Angle: -2.2° → 9.7°

Sawyer came in at the start of last summer. Hadn't been getting consistent playing time. The problem was clear. His bat path lacked the depth to: 1. Be on plane for more pitches 2. Work uphill and get his hard-hit balls in the air

Deep Turns courtesy of @andrewahn2023 🔥 Focus -> Shorten stride length to make creating and holding posture easier. Hesitation Swings -> Understand what landing with posture feels like Kershaw -> Create posture External Focus -> Middle of the field with POC of -6” to 6”

Highly suggest that gaining a good understanding of the physics of bat to ball collisions will greatly improve your coaching abilities. This will also help you understand batted ball outcomes based on how the bat moves thru space. 💰article ⬇️ drivelinebaseball.com/2022/12/hittin…

A "barrel" starts at 98 mph Exit Velo between 26-30° The harder you hit it, the wider that launch angle window gets. The result? A batted ball profile that historically produces .500 BA and 1.500 SLG.

Smash Factor Balls are great for training bat speed because they allow for high-intensity swings without punishment for mishits. But that bat speed has to carry over into hitting baseballs. Bat Speed Derby with both types of balls using @blastmotion for a tight feedback loop.
