@naval something about this feels weird, some of the companies mentioned already have insane valuations - what upside are people expecting to get here?

Introducing USVC - a single basket of high-growth venture capital, for everyone. No accreditation required, SEC-registered, and a very low $500 minimum. Includes OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Sierra, Crusoe, Legora, and Vercel. As USVC adds more companies, investors will own a piece of that too. Liquidity typically comes when companies exit, but we’re aiming to let investors redeem up to 5% of the fund every quarter. This isn’t guaranteed, but if we can make it work, you won’t be locked up like in a traditional venture fund. It runs on AngelList, which already supports $125 billion of investor capital. And I’ve joined USVC as the Chairman of its Investment Committee. — Go back to the 1500s, you set sail for the new world to find tons of gold - that was adventure capital. Early-stage technology is the modern version. It says we are going to create something new, and it’s risky. It’s daring. But ordinary people can’t invest until it’s old, until it’s no longer interesting, until everybody has access to it. By the time a stock IPOs, most of the alpha is gone. The adventure is gone. Public market investors are literally last in line. This problem has become farcical in the last decade. Startups are reaching trillion dollar valuations in the private markets while ordinary investors have their noses up to the glass, wondering when they’ll be let in. Investing in private markets isn’t easy. You need feet on the ground. You need judgment built over years. Most people don’t have the patience to wait ten or twenty years for an investment to come to fruition. But there is no more productive, harder-working way to deploy a dollar than in true venture capital. USVC enables you to invest in venture capital in a broad, accessible, professionally-managed way, through a single basket of innovation, focused on high-growth startups, at all stages. It is how you bet on the future of tech: the smartest young people in the world, working insane hours, leveraged to the max, with code, hardware, capital, media, and community. Your dollar doesn’t work harder anywhere. There is an old line - in the future, either you are telling a computer what to do, or a computer is telling you what to do. You don’t want to be on the wrong side of that transaction. USVC lets you buy the future, but you buy it now. Then you wait, and if you are right, you get paid. Get access here: usvc.com
AngelList@AngelList

Announcing: USVC AngelList exists to power the innovation economy. To date, we have powered $125 billion in assets, 25,000+ funds, and 13,000+ startups. Today, we’re opening it for retail access. @usvc_ is a regulated fund that holds stakes in promising private companies. There are no accreditation requirements and anyone can get started with as little as $500. Early portfolio includes xAI, Anthropic, OpenAI, Sierra, Vercel, Crusoe, and Legora. Own a stake in the companies defining the future. Learn more: usvc.com

@ImmortalAnanke @protosphinx Let me try again: The rhetorical question was that they witnessed the real life benefits of industrialization but how come they missed that they need to promote it in India too rather than focusing on agriculture and village economy.

I would say more of urbanisation rather than industrialization. You need concentrated cities with lack of space to require the need for underground. A large population has moved to the service sector from agriculture, creating the need for it. I think the drilling machine will now be made in India too instead of imported from Singapore.

London had an underground railway in 1863. The first electric underground railway was built in 1891. Under-freaking-ground. In 1891. Gandhi (later Nehru and all freedom-fighting stalwarts) studied in London during that era. Surely they would have seen this underground railway but it’s surprising none of them said we should have a culture that builds this kind of thing in India when it’s free. Like how do you see an underground freaking railway in 18 freaking 91 and not get mesmerized by grand miracles of industrialization ? The one thing driving London during that era was industrialization. And yet they didn’t connect the two ? Japanese got that. You didn’t ? Like what was the grand plan ? Let’s free this country and turn it into a massive village ? That the country should have crooked, unplanned roads in cities 100 years after independence ? That the might of train engines should never be produced, and that no modern train engine, car engine or any modern industrial design should come out of the country ever ? To import every single thing from a neighbor that got to industrialization on its own despite not having any London-educated founding members ? Honestly what even was their vision for the country ? The masses are uneducated I get that. But the leaders didn’t have eyes ? They were right there in London! What was the option - to not be industrialized ? Rural economy forever ? Shitty cities ? Questions are rhetorical.

@Stak_Gif_Art @Handre Think: If I pay income tax and various other taxes throughout my life and in the end I have saved up a nice sum to pass on to MY kids and you make a rule that the govt takes away most or all of it to stop “rich getting richer”, what do you think my rational action would be?

@Handre The only problem with this take is assuming the 100k was earned. What about 100 million inherited and invested in property or stocks. Should that not be taxed? Should the rich get richer. While joe normal is paying 50% tax rate?

Capital gains tax represents one of the most egregious examples of double taxation in the federal code, yet politicians treat it as if they're taxing "unearned" income for the first time. You earn $100,000, pay income tax on it, and save $70,000 after Uncle Sam takes his cut. You invest that already-taxed money in stocks, real estate, or bonds. Ten years later, you sell for $140,000. The government swoops in again, demanding capital gains tax on your $70,000 profit. They're taxing the same economic activity twice: your initial productive work that generated the savings, then the delayed consumption that made investment possible. Capital gains represent nothing more than the time value of money plus compensation for risk. When you save instead of consume immediately, you defer gratification to provide capital for productive investment. That $70,000 you invested didn't sit idle; it funded business expansion, job creation, and economic growth. The return you earned reflects both the productive use of that capital and inflation's erosion of purchasing power over time. The double taxation becomes even more perverse when you consider inflation. If your $70,000 investment becomes $140,000 over ten years, but inflation averaged 3% annually, your real purchasing power increased by roughly $18,000, not $70,000. Yet the IRS taxes the entire nominal gain, including the portion that merely kept pace with their own monetary debasement. Every dollar collected through capital gains tax is a dollar stolen twice; once from your labor, again from your thrift.

Indian Muslims who smashed newly installed smart electric meters because they simply didn’t want to pay electricity bills in India happily donated over 600 crores to Iran and now that very Iran has fired on Indian vessels. So, should these same Indian Muslims own the damage caused by the IRGC and donate money to repair or compensate for the Indian vessels? Those who refused to pay electricity bills because “it’s India” will they now pay to protect Indian vessels from the country they love the most? What do Indian Gen Z think about this blatant hypocrisy?

As a Muslim, I find it strange how ‘annihilate Hinduism’ is packaged as academic discussion. Try flipping the religion and see how fast the global response comes. If annihilation of a religion becomes acceptable language, we’ve already failed the idea of coexistence.

I left for bombay at 6.30 am like the hard working professional that I am & stopped the car at 7 am to make this reel as I’ve long realised that silence is not a virtue & one must speak up when they are disrespected. Yes if wrong things happen at any workplace that are against basic human rights, me & all of us should speak up. I don’t care about the personal trolling, I’m used to it last 5 years since shark tank but the purpose of this reel is to request all the proud Indians in this country to start speaking up when they see something wrong, out of humanity, out of patriotism. Jai hind. Now off to another joyful & complex day at work !

Will the board of directors of @Lenskart_com reply to my email which has all the proofs of the systematic anti-Hindu behaviour of the management of Lenskart or will they remain silent proving that the policy of discrimination against Hindus was board approved? Lenskart is a publicly listed company with @SEBI_India, and discrimination based oh religion is a serious offence. Cc @ashishkashyap @peyushbansal

More proof of @peyushbansal’s lies. Audit pics sent by employees, where Hindu employees were docked points for wearing bindi, but for M employees, the question was, ‘why no lipstick’. Nothing was said about a hijab. @Lenskart_com. This is on 5th April, but Bansal said his company withdrew the ‘grooming guide’ on 7th of February. Is this policy board approved? @SEBI_India approved? #AntiHinduLenskart
