Back to the future round 2 perhaps? With the current 387 fleet slowly making their way back down south some new faces have made appearances on GN. For one trip in both directions each weekday former Greater Anglia 379s have made their way onto the Great Northern network.

Altered diagram this morning & my shunt from Lovers Walk will head to Seaford via Wivelsfield instead of via Brighton. Something a bit different & a relatively unusual move. Can be signalled onto the UP or DN at Wivelsfield as Brighton - Haywards Heath is Bi-Directional (SIMBIDS)

🌧 Back to Eastbourne on the same train I arrived on (which had gone to Ashford and back). Sadly the weather wasn't the same...

🚉 Between the two platforms, there used to be two more lines, allowing fast trains to overtake stopping trains. These were removed as all trains now stop at Havant. 🚦Trains can still overtake here using the bidirectional signalling. You can run in both directions on each line.

🗺 There used to be a 5th route. A branch line ran from Havant to Hayling Island. 🚂 The bridge across Langstone Harbour had a weight restriction, requiring the use of lightweight steam locomotives, known as Terriers. No.72 Fenchurch is still in use today on the Bluebell Railway

@Kosmo100 Much easier to do that with a road bridge than a railway bridge!

@Jack_On_Track The road bridge soars very high over the Itchen to ensure clearance for masts etc - which of course added to the costs.
