I have been looking for a non-tech role for the past few months, and this is my *very honest* experience, in 10 bullet points: 1. If you want to land a role right after leaving your current one, start looking 3 months in advance, it might take a while. 2. There aren't that many roles in the market atm, and online applications are a waste of time 99.99% of the time (thanks to AI and not only). I tried to get opportunities primarily through my network 3. I never faced this in crypto until this year, but there's actually many male-only projects who exclusively hire men, even if your credentials & skills are way better than those candidates. Saw the pattern after it happened to me a few times, and it's a hard pill to swallow. 4. Around 65% of the roles I interviewed for ended up not hiring anyone because they changed their mind about hiring. Sometimes, I was told this before the last interview round that we scheduled. 5. Some weird experiences include: - founder didn't show up to the interview (same founder, twice) - founder asked for a written blog as a task, ghosted me then posted that blog lol - loads of founders who simply ghost right after asking for a *free* detailed 3-page marketing strategy 6. I'd say 80% of the jobs right now are not to be found online, but through recruiters. A lot of projects don't seek for crypto-native anymore, they want web2 xp (even if on the job ad it literally says "crypto-native") 7. However, 80% of recruiters disappear after applying on your behalf and you have to constantly ping for feedback. There is only 1 recruiter I found to be great to work with, because she always replies & tries to give feedback and that's 8. It's normal to get rejected and not be a good fit for everyone, but it's hard to adjust your CV/strategy/etc when you get zero feedback 90% of the time. 9. This is all real data. All the projects/roles I ever applied for are heavily organized in my Notion. I spend 3-6 hours researching every detail about these projects to prepare for interviews - their business model, roadmap, team structure, etc. I recommend you do the same - become the expert in their product. 10. Because I wasn't getting much feedback, I started talking with founders & marketers I respect, ex-colleagues, career mentors and even my ex-boss to share this and ask what is it that I could do better. Big thanks to everyone who took their time for this! _________________________________________ All in all I interviewed for 24 roles. The paradox is that on one hand, I have several friends who are hard-working, passionate about crypto and have good credentials who just like me have been unlucky with the job market. On the other hand, I know projects that somehow keep hiring people who seem great at first, but end up firing them for performance after 1-3 months... Thanks for reading this! I decided to share at the advice of one of my fellow marketers, because I'm sure many will relate. If you're building a cool product and you need a passionate marketer, my DMs are open. And if you're looking for a role, comment here. I stay in touch with many teams and will happily recommend you for a role. ❤️

What to expect at Token 2049: - doxxed KOLs showing face to make IRL content. - friends going to meet other friends. - people trading Telegrams to never talk again. - freeloading BDs hopping from country to country on projects’ expense. - people going only for food and getting drunk at every event. - blue chip projects dropping 6 figures (or more) at nightclubs to stay relevant. - the coffee warriors, who will set up coffee meetups every 30 mins on their calendar. - the active guys, always looking for some physical activity cuz they can’t stand still. - extremely private poker events where people with real money go. (Don’t worry, you won’t be invited there.) - the fake “VCs” who haven’t written a check in the last 2 years. - the real VCs, again don’t worry you probably won’t see them anyways. - the collector. no, not NFTs, I’m talking about people who just go to collect merch and plushies from every project on the blockchain. - the tourist, spends more time sightseeing than doing any work. This one is the real freeloader. - undoxxed mfers, happy to meet the chill guys but running away from the camera like your crush ran away from you. - the first timers, who wanna attend every event and meet every person. Wait till they see 99% of their “connects” disappear from the space within a year. - the girls, bombarded by every crypto chad getting a bit too touchy who apparently has never seen a girl before. - the LinkedIn guy in a suit, probably has like 2K+ followers there and thinks he’s superior to you. Don’t show him CT or he might throw up. In any case, conferences are always fun since there’s something for everyone. But, what did I miss? 🤨

🎉 @UnveilWeb3 Recruitment turns 3 today! 🎉 Three years ago, I started the business with nothing but an idea, a laptop, and a vision: to change how Web3 companies find and hire world-class talent. Since then: ✅ We’ve partnered with some of the most exciting blockchain projects on the planet. ✅ Helped engineers, marketers, BDs and leaders land dream roles in Web3. ✅ Built a network I could only have dreamed of back in year one. On a personal note, during that time I've travelled to 12 countries, seen some amazing things and met some amazing people. Without trying to sound too much like one of those influencers, you really can create whatever life you want to. It hasn’t always been easy (solo entrepreneurship never is). There have been LOTS of late nights, TONS of rejections, and plenty of lessons learned. However, the last three years have also been filled with growth, wins, and moments that make me proud of what UNVEIL has become. To our clients, candidates, and community: thank you. None of this would be possible without your trust and support. Here’s to the next chapter - I'm hiring 2 recruiters to join me on the journey. If you want to work remotely from the beach and create an amazing life for yourself, email me your CV and billings from at least the last 2 years - jack@unveilrecruitment.com

Your CV should only contain relevant information. Before you include something in your CV, ask yourself: Does this add value? For example, writing that you're a novice at speaking French is great - but honestly, hiring managers don't care that you can say "bonjour, comment tu t'appelles". If you're fluent, include it, if not, leave it off. Follow the below format and you'll be okay; • About me - 3 sentences, keep it short and sweet • a few bullet points naming your key skills • a key achievements section of the things you're most proud of, including the data to back things up • your work history, which includes what you actually delivered, don't copy and paste the responsibilities of the job. If you worked somewhere for 2 years and can't name a single achievement or piece of work you delivered, then what were you doing?

Hiring in Web3 can be tough, especially when you're an early-stage founder and you're expected to know how to interview for your CTO, engineering team, marketing lead, operations lead, business developer, product guy, and whatever else comes up. It's super important to design a selection and evaluation process that allows you to compare the people you're speaking to properly. That way, you're not hiring based on vibes, but actual skill sets and experience. If you need help crafting this process, then drop me a message and I'll give you all the advice you need - FOR FREE (I'll only charge you your body weight in BTC if you ask me to headhunt people for you).

@DankBelfortOG Most companies won't look at age when it comes to those roles, but it can happen sometimes unfortunately. Is that direct feedback that you've been given? What positions are you applying for? What does your CV look like? What process do you follow when applying?

When you're job searching, getting rejected from job applications is all part of the game and something you need to get used to. Whether you believe the feedback or not, it's always important to listen to the feedback you receive and see if there is anything you can take on board to help next time. Burying your head in the sand and thinking that everyone else must be wrong is a perfect way to stay stagnant. Be self-aware, be open to constructive criticism, and develop a growth mindset - this will help your career massively over the long term! Looks like I won't be joining the Etherieum Foundation any time soon, turns out that even HR teams in Web3 spot red flags... 🤣 ✌

There are 3 things you should be lying about in a job interview... 1. Your motivation for applying to that job and company. Don't say it's for the money, even if most of the time it is. It's because you're super interested and passionate about the company's mission, duhhh. 2. The reason you're leaving your current business. No one wants to hear you badmouth your d**k of a boss or slate on the founders' vision, it's a bad look and 9/10 times you'll get NO'd for saying it. Instead, focus on the positive future growth you want for yourself. 3. The other interview processes you're in. It's human nature to want what others have. No one wants to hire the person that other companies won't. Potential employers will wonder why you're not in demand. Just say you're in the later stages with several companies; you don't need to give more detail than that.
