@susanhall_EdD Being optimistic here…maybe the report card changes are in the works and they need to see which areas no longer align with their instruction. And maybe, hopefully, parents and teachers will speak up! Start a movement!

I can’t believe that this district is representing that they adopted a Science of Reading-aligned curriculum yet the report card has 3 cueing. Someone is very misinformed.

@tiffany_peltier One of the biggest problems in education? Publishing companies! McGrawHill also publishes Open Court. Big box publishers will sell a district anything they want. Second biggest problem? Knowledge! Schools need to stop purchasing materials that aren’t structured literacy based.

This book is “Level E”—beginning 1st grade. The phonics skill? Long e spelled ea/ee—4 words in the *entire* book: “meet, dream, keep, teacher.” It also has the words “astronaut, could, idea, curious” Do we really wonder why kids use the first letter & the picture 2 guess?
