On Day 115, the defense rested its case. The #HK47 trial has been tentatively adjourned until Nov 27 for closing statements. It began on Feb 6, nearly 7 months ago. Pictured here are the 16 who plead not guilty, 11 of whom testified in their own defense. bit.ly/3PdVLR9

“King of judicial review” Kwok Cheuk-kin has retracted his legal challenge against the Hong Kong govt’s injunction application over protest anthem “Glory to Hong Kong”. He said “someone” told him to be mindful of maintaining govt’s authority, but wouldn’t say if it’s police.

I literally shivered and felt chills down my back when reading this story: one undoubtedly written by a person who really f**king loves Hong Kong for others who feel the same way and, thanks to the Streisand effect, more of us now know about. 🥲😢😭

These are the last minutes of New York Thunder’s life on Travers Day. There are 14 dead horses now at Saratoga Race Course this season—including two yesterday. Officials, shut it down now!

“Glory to Hong Kong” is, to most of the world, just a song. But to residents of Hong Kong, it is a protest — and to the CCP, it is a threat, the Editorial Board writes. "U.S. technology companies might soon have to decide whether to help quash it." wapo.st/45A8ByD

Language is a form of resistance—and therefore can threaten authoritarians, who manipulate language to distort reality and erase inconvenient truths. Little wonder that Hong Kong authorities are now targeting Cantonese. On the shut down of @gongjyuhok: qz.com/hong-kong-s-ne…

Inconvenient Truths — Jennifer Zeng Reports
I am so shock! This is a speech made by a primary school teacher in #CCPChina before assigning a task to students. The students are asked to write a letter to #Japan's Prime Minister @kishida230 about Japan's behavior of discharging #nuclear wastewater into the sea. I was shocked by: 1. The inappropriate language of this teacher. She used words such as "拉屎放屁(shit and fart ) when cursing Japan. She encourages the students to curse Japan with skill, just like "eating someone/people without spilling out the bones(吃人不吐骨头)." 2. The mutual understanding between students and the teacher when discussing #NorthKorea's satellite launch. It seems that even the kids in #China know that North Korea is a puppy of the #CCP. 3. The "terrifying" future the teacher depicts for the students: after several decades, all their descendants will mutate into monsters and suffer from illnesses because of the #FukushimaWaterRelease #FukushimaNuclearWasteWater. No wonder why the Chinese people are so terrified. By the way, the pink words on the blackboard at the left of the Chinese words 日本 (Japan), which the teacher is going to hand write at the end of the video, read "Letter to Fumio Kishida on Japan's #Nuclear #Wastewater Discharge Practices".

From Renews: Hong Kong news outlet i-Cable quoted HKBU chemist lecturer, saying the treated & diluted wastewater discharged from Fukushima is not high risk. It also mentioned the Tritium level is much lower than from Daya Bay plant. The article was removed after a few hours

Stating for the record: I love -- and intend to keep on eating -- sushi; both the raw (swordfish, yellowtail, salmon roe) and cooked (freshwater eel) options! And supporting the #YellowEconomicCircle, including standing sushi eatery Uniya (海膽屋)! 💪

"Hong Kong, at least until v recently, functioned as a hidden-in-plain-sight source of rule of law & market finance for many high-tech entrepreneurs in China." The NSL ended this, & those entrepreneurs could be in for a rude awakening." By @YashengHuang: project-syndicate.org/onpoint/china-…

@rmbernardos @mrbcyber While HK had little political freedom under the British rule, freedoms in other aspects had allowed it to develop its one-of a-kind success story. Now the Chinese rule by law is suffocating HK and HKers in many aspects, including those that made it blossom.
