@kevinnbass People worry about the wrong things. I give next to no thought about mass shootings or Iran hiding under the bed (or Mossad), and a lot more to cardiac risk.

Worry is the wrong word, but suffice it to say. I spend a decent amount of time trying to avoid the number one killer of men my age and older. If you’re surprised about a heart attack, might be time to fire up some old Peter Attia podcasts.
Cernovich@Cernovich

Lindsay Graham was not obese, but if you go back to pictures of him from 2015, you could see that neck fat. Telltale sign of insulin resistance. Heart attacks trail these early signs of IR by 10-15 years.

@RCEY28 Learned manual on my stepfathers truck. Rarely done it since then. Can be a useful skill on rare occasions though. Been a couple of times when I had to borrow a friends truck that was manual. That being said I don’t understand why some people prefer it but to each their own

This girl is cruising down the highway in her stick shift, windows down, wind in her hair, belting out songs while she shifts gears without missing a beat. She looks genuinely happy and in control. Most people these days never learn how to drive manual. It takes real timing and coordination to get the clutch and gas right, especially when you’re just trying to have fun and sing along. Seeing her do it so naturally makes you realize how much of that skill is disappearing. Do you think driving stick is becoming a lost art, or do you still think it’s worth teaching people even if almost every new car is automatic?

@OldHeadHST @MoMohler Ghost don’t count as men bro. Show me in the rule book where it’s banned? Basketball rules allow ghosts, werewolf’s and magic sneakers. All part of the game

@MoMohler I seen so much worse. Dude had a literal ghost cheating for him during games. Setting moving screens and all kinds of bullshit right in the front of the refs and they did nothing. The ghost was basically a literal 6th man on the court. It was 5 on 6 and they didn't say shit

I just realized that like 80% of teachers will be out of jobs as soon as an AI school program is created. The greatest factor to a student's success is teacher effectiveness. With the introduction of an AI teacher, every student will have a one-on-one learning experience.

@rising_serpent The information may be incorrect, but frrom what I read, it's basically a "carrot" approach with no stick. If localities don't want to go for it, they don't have to. So expect blue areas to suicide. Red areas will likely not take this up.

RE: House of the Dragon So I’m trying to binge watch and get caught up on Season 3 of “House of the Dragon” and I’m just not feeling it. Too many disparate story lines about too many characters that I don’t really care about. Jace Velaryon gets killed with his dragon? Why should I care, he locked up his mother and the dude who played the character was a milk toast overacting kid. There was nothing there to feel sad or angry about. The Sea Snake and some pirate lord lady decide to kill each other? Who is the bad guy, who is the good guy? I don’t care who wins. Some Lannister dude drowns in his armor? I didn’t even know his name. Some idiot girl finds a wild dragon and then gets her family and her own fleet destroyed? Am I supposed to feel sorry for her? She is an idiot. Most of the characters feel less than fully fleshed-out and are not really compelling. The one-eyed Targaryen prince is pretty compelling but lately he just sulks. The peasant dragon lord dude is pretty funny, but he’s not particularly likable either. The dragon queen is sulking in her chambers like a high school girl whose boyfriend just dumped her and displaying for all why dragon queens are a bad idea. Game of Thrones took the same approach with many character arcs all at once, but the characters were so well written that you really cared. The whole Stark family was compelling. When Robb Stark and his mother got killed, it really mattered. The bad guys were not purely bad—Jamie Lannister was decent at heart but unfortunately was serving on the evil side. Even though Cersei was as evil as they come, you felt bad for her when her sons died. Daenerys was a victim and a persecutor all in one, a very complex and well-written character. And Tyrion Lannister was just about the most compelling character with all sorts of personal demons, inner conflicts and redemption arcs, as good as any character in any screen drama, ever. In Game of Thrones, you REALLY CARED about the characters. Other than the king in the first season in House of the Dragon, I find it very hard to care about any of the characters. I’m not sure if that’s bad writing or bad acting, or maybe both, but there is something wrong there. Also: 1. Game of Thrones benefited from the ever-present threat of the White Walkers lurking in the background. It spoke to a much bigger story that you knew would eventually evolve, and it kept you hooked through some of the less compelling story lines. I don’t see such a hook in House of the Dragon. 2. The graphic violence in Game of Thrones hooked you because it was not there all the time, and it usually surprised you with a jolt. So far Season 3 of House of Dragons seems like one non-stop gore-fest. Good entertainment surprises you with violence, it does not numb you to it. I’ll keep watching. Hopefully the writing gets better.

Final Fight (1989 by Capcom) was set in Metro City, where players control one of three heroes - Mike Haggar, Cody Travers, or Guy - to rescue Haggar's kidnapped daughter Jessica from the Mad Gear Gang. You can punch, kick, and - most fun of all - pick up and use weapons and objects to fight endless waves of thugs. What made it special were the massive, highly detailed character sprites, fluid animation (including grabs, throws, and specials), and interactive environments (barrels, oil drums, and other destructible or throwable items). For 1989, this was almost unheard of and challenged Street Fighter and Double Dragon (I and II) for best beat 'em up. Funny little glitch in the Matrix: Haggar's one (!?) suspender is over his right shoulder when facing right and over his left shoulder when facing left. Magic!

It was Barack Obama's bill. He called its opponents racist. If you thought mass immigration was bad, just you wait. The third world, coming to a home near you. Republicans will be in their mansions. Every American city and town will be gutted. Treason.

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is now law. House Republicans worked hard to ensure this legislation will pave the path to homeownership and the American Dream for hardworking families who have been crushed for far too long by Bidenflation and the Biden Border Crisis, which hiked housing costs by 30% and rent by 20%.

Well the Elizabeth Warren housing bill has passed. Section 8 incoming to suburbs, Obama couldn't get this done but a Republican majority house and Senate can. Why vote Republican when Warren gets everything she wants.
