The whole thing is nuts. College players getting paid more money than professionals to play (let's be honest, it's pay to play over NIL) the same exact sport is crazy. Honestly, I blame the geniuses who stated paying college players hundreds of thousands of dollars. Y'all could've stood on a cap of $100k max, but y'all wanted to be greedy and get advantages with no one wanting to make rules until now. As it pertains to this situation, what kind of representation does he have? Who in their right mind signs a contract with a buyout that is soley up to the descretion of one party? And they don't have to put you in the portal? Stupid. That alone is grounds for legal action because that's just dumb. That aside, how can a student be legally forced to stay at a college because of a sports contract? Miss me with the whole "that's how contracts work" stuff. I know. My question is specific to the legality behind mandating a student stays at a university because of an athletic contract when academics trumps athletics. Or is that not a thing anymore? You want to fix this nonsense? Stop paying college players a stupid amount of money and go back to what it was originally supposed to be. NIL. There's no rule that says you HAVE to pay them millions. A local car dealership, construction company, law firm, real estate company, etc., can sign them to sponsorships and pay them more money than most of this country's workforce makes in a year's salary without hitting $100K.
