There is no language for what this man is carrying. Former Governor Kiraitu Murungi sits alone facing his daughter Anita Kendi. She was 24 years old at the time of her passing on May 14, after a brief illness. Every parent makes one silent prayer their entire life. That their children never sit where he is sitting today. That prayer was not answered for him. There is nothing politics, power, position or any achievement in this life can do for a father in this pew. He is simply a man. Facing the unbearable. May God give him and his family a grace that only Heaven can provide. Because nothing on this earth is sufficient for this moment. Rest in peace Anita Kendi. Your father's love for you is visible from here. 😢

Kenya’s growing global footprint took another major step forward as I accompanied H.E. President @WilliamsRuto on his maiden visit to Astana, Kazakhstan. Upon arrival, I held bilateral talks with H.E. Yermek Kosherbayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, where we reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation across key sectors including mining, trade, investment and labour mobility. Our discussions focused on expanding markets for Kenya’s tea, coffee and cut flowers, while advancing structured labour mobility programmes that safeguard the welfare and rights of Kenyan professionals abroad. We also explored new areas of collaboration in transport and logistics, ICT and the digital economy, sports, tourism and nuclear energy, particularly on peaceful applications and energy diversification. The engagements reflect a shared ambition to strengthen economic ties, unlock new opportunities and build a modern partnership driven by innovation, skills exchange and mutual growth.

The public transport system should be controlled by the government, from trains to buses, particularly in the cities. This will stop possible paralysis of movement, as happened on Monday and parts of Tuesday.

Strengthening regional cooperation, economic integration and sustainable peace remains essential to unlocking shared prosperity across East Africa. During talks with Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, South Sudan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, we reaffirmed the strong ties of friendship and strategic partnership between Kenya and South Sudan. Our discussions focused on advancing cooperation in trade, infrastructure connectivity, regional integration, peace and security, including progress on the Tumaini Initiative, the upcoming Second Session of the Joint Commission for Cooperation, and the strategic Nadapal–Nakodok Road project. We also underscored the importance of stronger people-to-people relations and practical partnerships that drive regional stability, economic transformation and inclusive growth for our citizens.

Music, culture and African pride took centre stage as the Africa Forward Summit came to a memorable close at the Kasarani Indoor Arena during the Africa Forward Le Concert. It was refreshing to join H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and H.E. President @EmmanuelMacron for an evening of music and celebration, a rare moment away from the demanding schedules of leadership, as artists from across the continent showcased the richness of Africa’s diversity and reminded us that despite our different backgrounds, we remain one people connected by shared heritage, talent and ambition. The concert also highlighted the growing power of Africa’s creative economy as a driver of jobs, innovation, cultural diplomacy and opportunity for millions of young people across the continent. Beyond the music and performances, the evening reflected a confident Africa, bold, creative and ready to shape its place on the global stage as we continue advancing “The Africa We Want.”
