@LeahKonen It's the equivalent of a part-time job that involves manual labor. Five hours and 500 calories burned per day... when it goes well. Unreal how big the commitment is.

I'm getting a lot of reviews about how there is too much breastfeeding and it's not realistic in a book about a woman left alone with a 6-week-old baby, and it's just WILD to me how we as a society still don't realize how time-consuming nursing actually is.

@Deidre Absolutely. It's hugely educational. As a real estate agent, it can be annoying when an inspector carelessly gives opinions off-the-cuff on things like negotiation strategy, but that's a poor excuse for advising a buyer not to attend the inspection. Go... it's your house!

@JenaFriedman For some people / babies it's easy and they love it, others it's impossible... it got much easier for us after about 12 weeks... lactation consultant definitely helped! The right way to feed a baby is however they get food :)

@JenaFriedman My wife has been nursing for about four months... supplementing with formula and pumping are how she's been successful. It really helped in the beginning when she was just too sore, and through the phases when baby just wasn't latching. Allows me to help too.

Did any of you breastfeed exclusively? And if so, HOW? Did you just suck up the pain of bloody, cracked nipples until they acclimated? I don’t want to relegate these questions to a mom blog, I want men who follow me on here to get that this shit is so incredibly hard.
