@reinhardNFL Because they do not account for UDFA's. The treat all UDFA as 0 while all 7th round picks as having positive value + there is a cap on how many guys you can evaluate at once. Ie there are diminishing returns to drafting 14 players that are not accounted for. Very flawed

The nerds have lost the battle for draft capital trade valuation. Teams really are not moving any closer to the outcome-based style of trade charts that analytics/cap experts have published in the last few years, and I’m not sure there has been enough introspection as to why

@jaseidler Out of curiosity why do you hate the Fedde deal? Fedde projects to have a ~4.5 era ROS slightly better than lorenzon who got traded for a AAA RP and got back the projected 80th best hitter in baseball rn who makes good swing decisions, lifts the ball and decent contact for 6 yrs

the White Sox made the goofiest deadline deal of the decade and got one upped within a half a day

@enosarris @mikniks24 @metsventpage Fwiw Megill found a new splitter (he threw it 5 times in his last start of the year) that the Mets and stuff+ (116) are very high on. If that is legit and he throws it ~25% of the time, along with avg curve and slider. He just needs to regain fastball velo + mvmt imo

Seeing Colson Montgomery at #15 reminds me how much Mets scouts loved him in the draft. Rocker was always going to be the guy if he got to us but if he didn't, we discussed Colson at a cut or Frelick. #Mets #MLB

@jaseidler Where would Ziegler’s fastball rank among the minor leagues? He had 94.8 mph, 19.6 iVB, -3.5 VAA with 2400 rpm in his only outing this year, those metrics seem to me like top 10 fastball in MiLB for starters?

Ziegler was injured for most of the year. I have great respect for Max and Eno’s work but we do our own qualitative analysis of pitchers’ stuff and don’t rely on outside stuff metrics

@jaseidler Why do you guys have Vasil > Calvin Ziegler? Ziegler has a much better fastball and overall pitch shapes (114 stuff+ in 1 outing this year). And why no love for Saul Garcia or Douglas Orellana on the Mets list? They both had ~28% K rate, with stuff+’s of 116 and 109
