My takeaways (I've watched the entire video, I'm not going to nit pick every single talking point that Cody discussed):
1. Texas Tech didn't break any rules/laws.
2. Sorsby sought his own lawsuit against the NCAA, Texas Tech had no involvement.
3. Texas Tech had no knowledge of Sorsby's gambling prior to recruiting him, and Texas Tech doesn't have any means of knowing if players gamble or not, it's just not something that can easily be tracked. They have a indepth vetting process, and this is just one of those things that happened.
4. While Sorsby clearly broke NCAA rules, he never bet on a game he played in, he didn't manipulate any games, and didn't destroy the integrity of the games. He clearly has a gambling addiction.
5. Texas Tech wasn't going to throw him to the street. They care about all their student athletes, and their student athlete's health and wellness come first before anything else.
6. Texas Tech discussed all options with Sorsby and basically said there's no path to good by staying here, it's not fair to your teammates, it's not fair to the university, and it's not fair to yourself.
7. Cody Campbell continues to support the legislation to protect college sports and urges congress to act fast so things like this can be prevented.
