My planter f up. 15yr c/c forgot to turn on insec on 2 vt2/tre hybrids. No below ground protection except for @PBiocontrol I was expecting a train wreck and am pleasantly surprised/shocked. I'm not advocating this practice of no below ground protection.

How can the lower leaves on corn plants in wet NE IA be fired up like its a drought?? Soils in some locations are so saturated that there is no oxygen left in the soil... and thus the roots cannot work to bring nutrients into the plant. Very similar to severe drought conditions when there is not enough water in the soil to allow roots to work. Plants takes mobile nutrients like N and K from lower leaves to keep feeding new growth. As the leaf has nutrients robbed from it, disease tolerance on that leaf is about zero. Expect to see opportunistic bacteria/fungi attack it. If the value of what you are buying as a farmer has to be explained to you then you shouldn't be buying it. The number one reason? You aren't personally invested yet in the reason why this product is being sold to you or why you are persuading yourself to buy it. Not just because the "value" is a load of hogwash which is probably true A LOT....but really sit back and think about the "why" behind products you have tried over the decades have not "worked".

Today is obviously April 17th. It's been a 1000 days since Amber called me at 7:46 in the morning to say Colin was in an accident. My how my world has changed in that time. I said at his service that "I choose to be happy." I still do that but on days like today it's a bit harder. To any parent that is part of this unfortunate club you've got a friend in me if you ever want to talk. I very much appreciate the outpouring of support my family has received during this time. It never gets better but it has gotten a bit easier.
