Tuchel on the England app basically saying club form wasn’t a big factor and his picks were based on tactical profiles/performances in England camps. Honest, but not sure that’ll go down well.

@JakeJackmann I am baffled by people who treat the England team as a reward system for playing well in the league. It is its own team! Set-up, tactics, style. The whole point is to shape it over time, rather than change every two minutes based on who's doing well at that precise moment.

Lewis Hall wasn’t picked in August, October or November. He was picked in February when even Barnes was picked and 35 men were called up. This isn’t a massive surprise and definitely nothing to do with Howe. #nufc

@bensprattjourn Yeah i definitely would have had Hall. I think there is a nice balance to the squad though, something i thought we missed last tournament.

It’s very physical ain’t it? Especially in defence, clearly values physicality and more athletic players over the likes of Hall/Trent, albeit I think Hall is pretty good athletically 🙃

@NickDryden1 Why? Lewis Hall’s injuries at the start of the season are to blame. Others worked with Tuchel. Learned his patterns and earned his trust. That’s it. A player from the same club as Hall has barely played this year and when he has, he’s been shit. He’s going.

Gordon, Burn and Tino all played a lot more for Tuchel than Hall. Two of them haven’t played for us in a while. Can’t blame Eddie for Hall not going - just clear that Tuchel prefers others. He didn’t use Hall a lot in the last batch of games when he had a chance to. #nufc

@Johnny4PM On paper, anything above 7th/8th is an over performance based on wage bills. Even Villa have a higher wage bill than us.

@JakeJackmann How exactly did he overachieve in any of his seasons? He had massive January investment to stay up, and then had one of the best midfield 3’s, 9’s, and a solid European back line in a weak premier league where 3 of the biggest sides fell of massively.

@4llanmedeiros MLS has been in more squads and played more for Tuchel. Seems he’s prioritised those that have trained with him more.

@JakeJackmann I understand. But the last time MLS got called up was in October, so the feeling was that he’d been losing his place, while Hall had been gaining ground, especially because of his form for Newcastle. That’s why it feels so shocking.

@motleytoon1 Yep, rightly or wrongly. Hall missed out on squads when he was injured/short of fitness. That’s the thing to blame.
