I’ve you’ve never listened to his music I feel sorry for you. From KIDS to Circles. Classics. Every one of them. My roommate in college grew up in Pittsburgh, and his older brother told us of a story about Mac really young way before his “Kids” project. He was at a house party in high school and said he remembered this kid going around the whole party passing out mixtapes. He said the kid was super young and had no idea who he was. It was Mac. Straight hustler. I think he still might have the CD I’ve listened to every one of his albums front to back and did it in order. You can hear the progression of his career and also his frustrations with him not getting the credit he felt he deserved. Frustrating. Listening to his music and how often he hinted at dying an early death “I’m too obsessed with going down as a great one. But if you wait too long they’ll find someone to replace ya” His struggle with drugs was always something known but he would never take anything away from the projects and the things he did to release them. Just wish someone got to him and really shook him out of that spell. The GOAT.
