Exactly! We even joke that the US government whenever it wants to come up with new military equipment, it piles up a gigantic stack of cash and lights it on fire. We then dance around it until it burns up. Once it’s done burning, a special new piece of military equipment magically appears. It’s why our military budget is so high. That’s how we do it here in the Hamburger Kingdom 😂 So you see, equipment is just there to accomplish the mission, it can be replaced. But people? People are irreplaceable… So we mean it when we say “No man left behind!”

Wow! Lots of engagement lately especially with our Japanese friends. I’ll be honest, I took a long break from being active on X. Not posting, just quietly liking posts, etc. American X had just become a lot of rage bait, bots, and endless politics. So I didn’t want to interact much. But then the auto translation feature was rolled out and we started interacting with our friends in Japan and it was so refreshing. X became truly fun again and I have throughly enjoyed the mutual cultural exchange, warmth, jokes, and admiration shared by people on both sides. Japanese bros are just so enthusiastic, full of life and actually very funny. We are different but have a lot more in common than I think most of us realized. I hope we keep this up and bad actors don’t ruin it. I’ll try to keep up being more active and provide some value or entertainment where I can.

@miseri_shiko Yea auto translation plus the update to the algorithm has definitely been a welcome change. The negative stuff doesn’t really show up unless you interact with it. So it’s easier to separate yourself from the crazies 😂 Hopefully they keep it this way.

Yeah, it seems like both sides had the same issues before. Now it’s a lot more fun. This feels more like how the internet is supposed to be. I’ve learned a lot that I had no idea about before. I already wanted to visit Japan, but now I really want to go. There’s so much I want to see and experience. And it would be great to meet people in person.

Yeah, that sounds very similar. There’s nothing like sharing some BBQ and good food haha I’ve got a long list of Japanese food that I want to try now too. It has been nice to see how much we have in common, and enjoying the unique differences. I think this is how the internet was supposed to be.

I understand what you mean, and I agree. Little House on the Prairie is a classic. Many Americans still value those things. Family, responsibility, and strong communities. That side of America definitely still exists, even if it’s not always what gets shown the most. It is alive and well, it’s just quieter. Hopefully with interactions like this, and the language barrier being removed here on X, people can see more of it again

It would be amazing wouldn’t it! There are some videos on YouTube of them firing in the early 90s. In my opinion they should fire them every year on the 4th of July haha And all of those you listed are bangers! Nothing beats 80s and 90s action movies like that. I wonder if there are any Japanese action movies that are in that same kind of style. They would be cool to see. I haven’t seen Dirty Harry in a long time, now this is making me feel nostalgic haha

Tremors definitely fits hahah It would come on TV all the time in the US too. I know everyone around my age (millennial generation) grew up watching it. They don’t make many films like that anymore here though. It’s sad. And B-level shark movies huh? That makes me think of the movie Sharknado here. It’s wild, sharks inside tornado’s 😂 I think I need to look into the Japanese B-level movie scene

You didn’t say anything wrong at all. It is complicated. I think everyone, even those who are angry on both sides, would like to get along better and fix things. It’s just difficult right now, especially with everything going on in the world. We are all facing a lot of issues. We will see what happens. Europe and the US may come to some understanding, it just might take some time.

As an American, I personally haven’t seen that at all. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but it wouldn’t really get any support. Everyone here basically agrees that China should be the focus of our defense strategy. That means strengthening ties with Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other countries in the region. If anything, Americans are frustrated that we keep getting involved in the Middle East/Europe and are unhappy with NATO. They would like to pivot to focus on countering China. That is the major concern.
