The reaction to TLJ was so abrupt, upsetting and negative, it completely undid the momentum for Star Wars until the Mandalorian showed it was not simply Star Wars fatigue. This is ground zero for what happened. And I am talking about how Iger and Disney corporate reacted only.

Impossible to watch TLJ and not mourn the threequel that never was. So much ridiculously exciting stuff teed up by Rian Johnson only for JJ Abrams to come rolling back in and squander all of that potential

@FilmGamerOne @Gray_Mackenzie Remaining as a colony of Canada's is a Canadian Psy-Op. Canada has more to lose by us leaving than the US has to gain by us becoming independent. If more people petitioned to stay in Canada, then they will have an opportunity to assert that at the polls.

Mark Carney says the Alberta referendum is a “question about a question,” calling it a “very dangerous bluff,” adding “it’s not helpful to ask these fundamental questions” Carney also noted that the UCP didn’t run on a separation referendum in the last election and while he wouldn’t say if he told Danielle Smith not to do this, he did say “the premier doesn’t always take my advice” #cdnpoli

@Cherniak 5 votes contrary to objection what does that mean? You said there were fewer than 5 that were issued a ballot over objection to eligibility. If there's a discrepancy a recount given the high profile nature is required. Was this run by Elections Canada? If not it should be.

I’m not allowed to talk about what was said during the hearing, but there are a few answers in the decision. Paragraph 25 says there were only 5 votes contrary to objections during the meeting. There is also the broader finding that the appeal did not show 19 votes in question, so to the extent that any votes were questionable it was not enough to change the result. Finally, it wasn’t evidence so I think I can also say as somebody who was in the voting room that there was no vouching allowed to prove address or ID.

Some key findings from the dismissal of Nate Erskine-Smith’s appeal. #onpoli [25] Importantly, representatives of the nomination contestants (including Mr. Erskine-Smith) were entitled to—and, according to the evidence, did—observe each step of this process. Scrutineers for the campaigns were positioned at the DRO stations and the credentials stations, as well as at the ballot box. According to the evidence, there were fewer than five voters all day who were issued ballot over a specific objection as to their proof of eligibility. Each campaign also had continuous access to the electronic voters list in real time, including in the voting room and during the tabulation process. …. [28] We are fortified in this conclusion by the returning officer’s evidence. Following the nomination meeting, the returning officer and other party officials made a careful study of the credentials forms that had been completed at the nomination meeting. By cross-referencing these forms with the voters list, the returning officer identified 20 voters who had been issued credentials forms that showed them as having been deemed eligible to vote, but whose names were not crossed off the voters list. [29] The clear inference to be drawn from this evidence is that these 20 voters were deemed eligible to vote and cast ballots, but due to a record-keeping error their names were not crossed off the voters list. Counsel for Mr. Erskine-Smith agreed that it was open to us to draw this inference. We do so. [30] Once the names of these 20 voters are added to the 1,489 names that were crossed off the voters list during the nomination meeting, the discrepancy is reduced from 34 to 14. Even if there were evidence that 14 individuals voted at the meeting who had not been deemed eligible to vote—and, for the reasons given above, the evidence does not support this—a 14-vote discrepancy would still be insufficient to overcome Mr. Hafiz’s 19-vote margin of victory. Recall Mr. Erskine-Smith’s submission that he must prove “in respect of 19 or more votes, that ‘irregularities’ occurred that ‘affected the result’”. …. [57] At the hearing, Mr. Erskine-Smith emphasized that he was not alleging that any other campaign had engaged in vote-buying. Nor does he argue that any of the behaviour inside the voting room constituted an irregularity that affected the result of the election. Rather, he submits that the evidence of this behaviour should cause us to lose confidence in the validity of the voting procedures as a whole. …. [64] We have decided that a limited exception to this confidentiality is warranted in the particular circumstances of this appeal: we direct that this decision may be distributed publicly, including to representatives of the press.

@Gray_Mackenzie It’s not helpful *to him*, it would be much more helpful if the people of Alberta would continue to be completely subservient. The premier is not supposed to take his advice, she is supposed to reflect the will of the people she represents.

@ThomasTankMerch I've noticed that on multiple streaming services, the descriptions either barely describe the film or just talk about how critically acclaimed it is and who was in it with no plot details. Extremely frustrating

So it's sort of neither fish nor fowl POV-wise. It could be focused on Palpatine's Richard III machinations (full omniscient POV) or on the Jedi hearing only rumors of a Sith in the government (limited POV). Instead it awkwardly tries to only hide this 1 particular piece of info

The reason why the Liberals are Canada’s Natural Governing Party is because the Conservatives are Canada’s Natural Opposition Party. It’s not 1926, it’s 2026 - Canadians expect potential governments in waiting to do something else besides criticize. NO ONE is buying the lazy excuse ‘it’s not their job to provide solutions, they’re the opposition’ If I were serving as an elected federal Conservative Member of Parliament, my focus and that of my colleagues would be entirely on building bridges with Manitoba and British Columbia, rather than questioning Prime Minister Mark Carney’s commitment to Alberta or Canada. My first step would be to meet with provincial elected representatives in Manitoba, encouraging them to expedite the development of an LNG pipeline to Hudson Bay. Similarly, I would engage with British Columbia elected representatives to advance discussions on an oil pipeline, recognizing the critical importance of these infrastructure projects for our national economy. I’ve just explained how to be useful, she should run along now and do the hard work instead of sounding like an idiot.
