#Kenyarugby This is how it should conclude. A full report to affiliates sharing details of the tournament and outcomes. This allows affiliates to fully examine and appreciate the benefits of the tournament. 90 days is the standard reporting period.

KRU – GREAT TOURNAMENT. NOW GIVE US A REPORT! The HSBC Sevens recently staged at Nyayo Stadium was, an impressive spectacle. The optics were good. The field of play looked sharp, the branding was world-class, the television product was polished, and the crowds appeared to enjoy..

@ehdande You are right that nearly half of these funds are parked in government securities. On the face of it, that looks like excessive conservatism. In truth, it’s a direct consequence of a deeper problem: the dearth of safe, alternatives, innovative investment vehicles.

Kenya’s pension industry may be celebrating the symbolic milestone of crossing Sh 2 trillion in assets, but scratch beneath the surface and the picture is less flattering. Almost half of these funds are parked in government securities, an easy, low-risk option that prioritizes safety over growth. This conservatism may shield funds in the short term, but it limits the returns that could transform the retirement years of Kenyan workers. By contrast, U.S. pension assets allocate less than 20% to government bonds, deliberately shifting more into private equity, real estate, and other alternative investments to drive higher long-term value. Kenya’s heavy tilt towards government paper reflects not just caution but a missed opportunity to use pensions as engines of economic growth. Our funds should be bold enough to back infrastructure, innovation, and private markets, instead of acting as a lifeline for government borrowing. Otherwise, the pension system risks becoming a safety net for the state rather than a wealth builder for retirees. Hitting Sh 2 trillion is commendable, but true success will only come when Kenyan pensions diversify beyond government securities into asset classes that create lasting value.
