@esschaffer If the science was perfectly clear, they’d either completely remove it or resume administration. For whatever reason, the clinical (and statistical) experts aren’t convinced either way - so they paused it. Reassuring people in the meantime seems like a reasonable thing to do.

@esschaffer You’re assuming the numberator is correct - clinicians were unaware of the possible side effect and perhaps didn’t report it. This isn’t J&J vs COVID. There are alternatives that might be safer. Seams reasonable to treat peoples anxiety with reassurance and obtain more data.

@esschaffer “The risk is extremely low” - reassure someone that the risk to them of the J&J vaccine they got 10 day’s ago is almost zero. “It makes sense to pause the administration of it” - we need more safety data. Science and good clinical care don’t always align 100%.
