They gave him a false court date and set up armed surveillance at your home, waiting for the moment they could escalate. Randy Weaver was a former U.S. Army Green Beret. He served in the military before moving off the grid with his family in northern Idaho. His military background added to the tension for federal authorities, because he was trained in weapons and survival, but it didn’t make him violent or a threat to anyone outside his property. After an 11 day stand off with Randy and the baby inside with two dead bodies, the government was ordered to pay millions in settlements to Randy. They were proven to be in the wrong for this deadly power trip. But that doesn’t bring back a 14 year old boy or his mother. Stay educated. Some of our history isn't taught in school for a reason.

Providing public safety is a primary function of our City government. The Austin Police Department’s General Orders were revised earlier this year to assure our officers can best meet local public safety needs, maximize the use of our limited police resources, and provide much needed clarity to officers when encountering ICE administrative warrants. We believe the revised General Orders are consistent with state requirements, including SB4. The City of Austin has made great progress on public safety— but our APD officers do not have the capacity—and should not be asked— to do the jobs of other entities. There is great irony that the state would try to punish the City for providing services that keep Austinites safe by threatening grants that keep Austin safe. The grants being threatened include one that provides services to peace officers who experience trauma on the job. They also include one that help survivors of sexual assault get justice and one that improves the ability to respond to violent crimes against women. The letter threatening the City is not about keeping Texans safe. We will continue to focus on providing public safety. We will continue to support our officers. We will continue to fight for justice for sexual assault survivors and survivors of domestic abuse. We don’t have the time and will not play into this political theater.

Imagine you're an NFL player and you have a $1 Million incentive in your contract for winning MVP. You come in 2nd place in MVP voting and find out that the player you lost to plays for a team whose head coach has been hanging out with one of the 50 awards voters and pictured holding hands with him. Dianna Russini publicly stated she voted for Drake Maye, so This exact situation almost played out this year, except Stafford won the award (barely) and he didn't happen to have this contract incentive. The Awards voting process needs to be seriously looked at. This can't happen again. PS - NFL coach's contract details aren't public, but theoretically it's possible for a coach to have an incentive for winning COTY. Dianna Russini has a COTY vote. How is any of this okay?
