🚨BREAKING🚨 After months of collaboration with local leaders and advocates, we’re delivering more than $15 million for North Texas — investments that will strengthen infrastructure, expand health care and education, improve public safety, and grow our economy. Proud to fight for these priorities and get them signed into law.

Mohammad Nazeer Paktiawal was a loving father and husband, a 41-year-old who worked alongside the U.S. military to defend our freedoms. After completing his service, he sought asylum here in the United States. Tragically, he died in less than 24 hours in ICE custody. This was a healthy man, yet what was meant to be a system targeting criminals has now taken the life of a husband, a father of six, and a loyal ally of this country. I am demanding answers and accountability for his preventable death. This cannot be ignored. juliejohnson.house.gov/media/press-re…

House Democrats have real solutions—to fund TSA, reopen FEMA, and support the Coast Guard. Republicans won’t even consider them, choosing to keep DHS shut down and block negotiations on ICE reform. The chaos is on them. @HouseDemocrats are working on solutions.

Last year we sent the WNBA a letter urging them to negotiate in good faith with the players union to reach a fair collective bargaining agreement. The season is right around the corner and no deal has been made. So we followed up. The future of women’s sports depends on the fair treatment of the athletes who make it possible.

Yesterday, I went to Dallas’ ICE field office to demand answers in the death of my constituent, Mohammad Nazeer Paktyawal. His death should never have happened. I will not stop until there is full accountability and his family gets the answers they are owed. @HomelandDems

I am horrified by the death of Mohammed Nazeer Paktiawal, a North Texas resident and former U.S. military aide, who died while in ICE custody this past weekend. Mr. Paktiawal supported U.S. forces and deserved dignity and safety, not to die in detention. I am demanding answers from ICE on what happened. There must be a full, transparent investigation and accountability. cbsnews.com/texas/news/afg…

Great to see leaders from across the region come together for the @DRC’s 2026 State of Infrastructure address. From water and energy to technology infrastructure, the conversation focused on the critical investments needed to support businesses, strengthen our economy, and keep the Dallas region growing. In Congress, I will continue to do everything I can to bring funding back home to support our region's infrastructure needs that supports our business community and drives long-term growth.

I’m horrified by the antisemitic attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, and grateful to the security personnel and first responders whose actions protected lives. For Jewish families, a synagogue is where people gather to pray, to learn, and to support one another as a community. The freedom to worship without fear is fundamental to life in this country, and it must apply to people of every faith. Violence driven by hatred toward any community is a hate crime. Our government has a responsibility to ensure crimes like this are investigated and prosecuted with the full force of the law.

I voted NO on more funding for ICE. At a time when masked agents are terrorizing families and undermining trust in our communities, Congress should be focused on protecting people’s rights and making our communities safer. We need accountability, not fear. @HomelandDems

As one of the first Members of Congress to call for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s impeachment, her firing is welcome news. We deserve a Homeland Security secretary who respects the rule of law, protects constitutional rights, and treats every person with dignity.
Congresswoman Julie Johnson@RepJulieJohnson

.@Sec_Noem swore an oath to uphold the Constitution and protect the American people. She has violated that sacred oath, leading a department that continues to deny people their rights and terrorize communities. She must be impeached. @HomelandDems

During the Texas primary, Dallas County voters could use any vote center during early voting—but Republicans changed the rules for Election Day, forcing voters to their assigned precincts, causing confusion. Last-minute changes like this disenfranchise voters. My VOTE Act ensures clear notice when polling locations change so every voter can cast their ballot. juliejohnson.house.gov/media/press-re…

Early this morning, Trump ordered direct military action against the Iranian regime. We have seen time and time again how Trump prefers illegal military action with little concern for what comes next. Congress has the sole constitutional authority to declare war, and we must reassert that authority at this moment. I am deeply concerned for the safety of our troops across the region who have been put in harm’s way and innocent Iranian citizens who have been yearning for freedom from this oppressive regime. Congress needs to see a clear strategy, or the American people will bear the consequences of another endless war in the Middle East.
