@mtwentyy @ironmikeluke He actually had a pretty good shot during the regular season, he just didn’t shoot a lot given he was surrounded by Burries, Delly & JB. Somebody changed his shot going into the combine, which looks like it was a really bad decision.

@ironmikeluke Pros: -1st round NBA draft pick -multi year contract -develop a jump shot Cons -not the biggest name in the sport -leaving 5M on the table -could never develop a jump shot

Here’s my Koa take: ✅I think he’s expected to be a 1 and done since he was 14 ✅And his pedigree is that. ✅I also think he was more than okay with being a top 20 pick ✅I’m guessing he was stunned that every NBA person is telling him to come back ✅Confusion dominates now

I think anyone who uses AI seriously can feel this shift in its sophistication and probably has similar concerns about the implications. It’s not fully there, but it’s moving in the right direction.
Brett Caughran@FundamentEdge

A big pivot from Ken Griffin on AI: “Number one is, in the last few months, there has been a step change in the productivity of the AI toolkit. It is profoundly more powerful than it was just nine months ago. And for us at Citadel, that has allowed us to unleash a much broader array of use cases for AI. And it has been really interesting to watch, to be blunt, work that we would usually do with people with masters and PhDs in finance over the course of weeks or months being done by AI agents over the course of hours or days. These are not these are not mid-tier white collar jobs. These are like extraordinarily high skilled jobs being, I'm going to pick a word, automated by agentic AI. And I gotta tell you, I went home one Friday actually fairly depressed by this because you could just see how this was going to have such a dramatic impact on society. When you witness it in your own four walls, when you see work that used to be man years of work being done in days or weeks, it's like, wow, like that's the first time I've seen real impact in our four walls.” This echoes my own experience with agents and the conversations I am having with students, friends & clients. The toolkit has dramatically transformed and it feels like in finance, for the first time, AI is real.

As a father of three, I deeply appreciate Ken’s point about persistent inflation inflicted on families. Food, healthcare, education, travel, streaming services, you name it. The American political class needs to get its act together.

RBC thinks that $RDDT could renegotiate their LLM deal with Google and fetch up to 5-10x the current $60M/year agreement. The contract is up for renewal in 2027. Also, keep in mind Reddit is suing Anthropic for illegally scraping data so look for a potential settlement there too. Reddit also has a deal with OpenAI for an estimated $70M which was done in 2024 and should also be up for renewal in 2027 according to their S1.

This is crazy to see. I get we’re bleeding off some COVID over valuation, 2.6X sales on a string quarter?

@yoramdw @sabben If it's 10%-20%, the issue with capital oversupply (and what I've heard more than a few VCs say) is that it may change the equation to 1 in 30 or higher in terms of outcomes.

@Jakewk @sabben 80-90% very possibly, but that's the nature of the game. The other 10-20% will shape the future and more than compensate for the 100% to make sense

Tech ecosystems pop when unicorns are born. 🦄 The US shows the flywheel effect at full power. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 The Bay Area has produced 781 unicorns since its first, still in a league of its own globally. 🇺🇸 New York hit 297 unicorns in just 16 years, a faster acceleration than the Bay Area at the same stage. When talent and capital get reinvested locally, the compounding effect makes these cities magnets for global talent and foreign capital. Will Boston, Los Angeles and Austin close the gap? See how 300+ cities across 77 countries compare Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2026 unveiling on May 28 👇

@yoramdw @sabben No venture valuations have become largely divorced from real economic progress - orders of magnitude beyond public and other privates. 80%-90% are likely 10X+ overvalued.

My of the most valuable (in the real sense) companies in the world are the downstream result of capital oversupply. The number of unicorns is a useful proxy to measure successful start-ups with a lot of potential that can one day deliver a lot of economic value and progress. Many of them do.

Behind the @cerebras office, we keep two big smokers. Long before I was CEO, I was obsessed with BBQ. I used to fire up a smoker behind @FoundationCap's office while we incubated Cerebras and I smoked brisket for our company picnics when we had hundred of people. We have family events four times a year. And among other things we smoke meat. This was at our most recent company party, we did 200 pounds of ribs and 300 chicken thighs. Your company's culture should look like you. It's part of who we are. If you're a sailor, take your team out on a boat. If you love skiing, take them skiing. Include who you are in the company you build.
