Interesting, the poll came out closer than I expected, though skewed heavily toward yes.

Standard plagiarism detection like TurnItIn or a google search won't pick up something that's spat out of ChatGPT. While the student may not be plagiarising another human's work (directly), they are also not submitting their own work which defeats the purpose of assessment.

Something that is concerning me about how good ChatGPT and the likes are getting is how easily they can be used to plagiarise assignments. As a university instructor, how can I tell whether an assignment is the student's own work, or the work of an AI?

@nthedisco The hard part is that assessments are designed to test students' comprehension of the course material. If they get ChatGPT to write it, they may not be directly plagiarising another human's work, but it's also not their own work.

If a student uses ChatGPT to write all or part of an assignment, is that plagiarism?

So, I've been experimenting with #ChatGPT from @OpenAI and it is actually increbile (or terrifying). I've never seen an AI, let alone a chatbot, that is so broadly capable; from writing enitre functions of code, to suggesting wine pairings - it is incredible.

I legitimately just received my copy of Superintelligence by Nick Bostrom, and now I'm seeing ChatGPT blowing up on Twitter. I wonder which parts of my job will be the first to be replaced or augmented by AI.

Spent the last few evenings working on a new personal site and some blog posts. Feels oddly nostalgic for all the late nights I spent learning to code and hack things early in my career. Hope to have something to share soon.

@vortexau Hey if you're noticeably fitter and stronger, that's the main thing. Odd that the tech isn't showing the same thing, but that's only one metric. Your other metrics are clearly showing improvement.

@JakobTheDev I've dropped 14kg also since January and bulked up a little too. So hence my concern atm.

Latest apple updates are calling out that I have low cardio fitness? Seems to have been an ongoing thing in the history🤔 Idk how that could be, I train with a PT 2x a week + ride my bike, 40+ KMs a few times and I know my fitness is way better than it has been. Que anxiety 😬

I've been thinking about how I use my phone and how much it distracts and interrupts what I'm doing, here and now. I've decided to delete all social media and entertainment apps, making my phone a utility device rather than an entertainment device.
