If you're on a Mac and using python, tell Claude Code to convert the most time consuming parts of your program to use swift which is Apple's most performant programming language. I have seen massive speed increases. AVWAP is now 81x faster than doing it in python alone.

@siddontang Short term prediction: OpenAI Codex will write Rust programs as well Astral did. Longer term prediction: Most new backend programs will be Rust instead of python.

The Astral playbook is clear: find a widely-used, slow ecosystem tool → rewrite in Rust → 100x performance → massive adoption. The same pattern is waiting to happen in database tooling. SQL linters, migration engines, query analyzers — all still running on Java/Python stacks from 2015. Who builds the Ruff for SQL?

@firstadopter @jukan05 Microsoft is too concentrated in OpenAI. There is a lot of risk in 45% Azure RPO from them already. Adding another 10 billion would not be seen favorably by the market unless GPT 6 is clearly the best.

@FredaDuan Is this the same Hyundai factory that ICE shut down last month?

As some readers noted, the Waymo BOM cost reduction from 5th gen to 6th gen is likely underappreciated. A ~50% cut is plausible - from ~$150k+ per vehicle to ~$70k. 5th Gen - Jaguar I-PACE Waymo receives finished Jaguars, tears them down, and retrofits sensors and compute. This manual, post-production process adds significant labor and cost. 6th Gen - Hyundai Foundry Model Waymo shifts to a true foundry model. Hyundai builds vehicles on its Georgia assembly line specifically for Waymo. Cars roll off autonomous-ready (redundant steering/braking, power doors, pre-wiring). Sensors are installed on the line; Waymo just plugs in the “Driver.” No teardown, no expensive retrofit labor. What “6th Gen” Means: The 6th gen is not a car - it’s a vehicle-agnostic sensor + compute stack (first shown on Zeekr, now deployed across multiple platforms). +++ open.substack.com/pub/robonomics…

Waymo GMV and scale - back-of-the-envelope Assuming ~450k trips per week (Tiger Global investor letter) or ~3,000 cars on the road (Waymo official commentary), and ~$16 per trip (shorter than Uber trips, but comparable on a per-mile basis), Waymo’s current GMV run-rate is ~$350–400m. If Waymo scales to 7–10k vehicles over the next 12–18 months (pure guessing; directional estimate), GMV would scale to ~$1–2bn run-rate. At a rumored ~$100bn valuation, this implies an implied GMV multiple of ~50–100x (!). All analysis based on public information. +++ Full analysis: open.substack.com/pub/robonomics…

@qcapital2020 Uber’s FCF is brittle. The ride share portion is going to be disrupted. It’s just a matter of time.

Absolutely insane that Waymo is now valued at $110B with a run rate of $350M while $UBER sits at only $165B with $10B of FCF. Yes yes yes growth rate bla bla bla but I'll take my chances here

@FunOfInvesting Bernie is helping make Elon way richer. This makes the case for orbital data centers more compelling. #ODC Elon should send Bernie a case of ice cream as thanks!

@oguzerkan Ilya said that adding more compute to pre training won’t make LLMs better but then he went on about how RL can do it and can require a ton of compute.

Ilya is one of the guys who successfully trained a neural network on a large dataset using GPUs for the first time. He is now telling us LLMs won’t get much better by just throwing more compute. Yann Lecun has also been saying this for a long time. Something to think about.
Rihard Jarc@RihardJarc

Ilya Sutskever just said that when it comes to AI models, we are back at the age of research & ending the age of scaling. What he is telling us is that more compute at this point won't help us get much better models; we need new breakthroughs. Not something that the semi companies like $NVDA, $AMD want to hear TBH.

Fans haven’t realized it yet but the Nico firing is pro sports’ GameStop moment. Ownership just exposed its pressure point and a mobilized fan base can move mountains. This won’t be the last time it happens.

Elon Musk: With Optimus, we might be able to stop putting people in prison. “If somebody's committed a crime, we might be able to provide a more humane form of containment of future crime. You now get a free Optimus, and it's just going to follow you around and stop you from doing crime. Other than that, you get to do anything; it's just going to stop you from committing crime. That's really it. You don't have to put people in prisons and stuff. It's pretty wild to think of all the possibilities, but I think it's clearly the future.” Tesla Shareholder Meeting, November 6, 2025

@JackFarley96 A tariff on Indian services would be devastating to their engineers and customer support agents. I would bet that option is on the table even though the risk to the US would be great too.
