If you're choosing the best medical trx for the majority of people w/ environmental/seasonal allergies (and food allergies), it's going to be aqueous sublingual immunotherapy. It's safer, easier, and more flexible. It creates a more robust long-term benefit than other options.

@HealioAllergy @GoHealio For allergists who want to avoid insurance interference & headaches, look at opening a Direct Care clinic (cash pay). For allergists in particular, it can be effective w/ memberships or packages. It has worked very well for our clinic. We spend more time w/ patients & our family.

Sometimes I read these studies & wonder why they're done. The 1st study is common sense & has been done for yrs using SPTing, labs, & history to determine their specific allergenic picture. The 2nd study has a terrible headline. No, you're not close. Not even remotely close.

Glad you’re doing well, hopefully you were carrying 2 epinephrine with you. If you need to reduce likelihood of reactions, ask about immunotherapy or biologics. SLIT is the best long-term option. OIT can increase tolerance to nuts quicker but with more risk. Happy to help!

"The work to provide all-in-one allergy relief isn’t finished yet." Liquid-extract SLIT, an all-in-one trx, has been available in the US for 50+ yrs. It hasn't been accessible bc it doesn't make the ROI that companies or clinics want and the FDA process for this is flawed.

"With monoclonal antibody shots, patients also report fewer side effects." There are almost no side-effects for someone on SLIT, which can be used to treat all allergens at once. We can use pharma-grade extracts or the real food to make SLIT serums.

An excellent option for food allergy treatment. Can get to higher doses for less money, can avoid consumption of the food if the patient doesn’t like the taste, can do it indefinitely for protection. It’s logistically more difficult & less diverse than using the pharma extracts.
