What is love? With all the definitions of the word it takes on a variety of truths.
It has the ability to lift us to unimaginable heights, to accomplish the impossible, or drown us in our deepest sorrow.
Love itself is the fabric of relationships, the bond of companionship and the single most emotion we all crave.
It can be our saving grace. The comfort of a mother, the friendship of a sibling, the silent understanding of a father, the kindness of a stranger or the passion felt by a lover.
We all have our own take on the word but it’s almost impossible to explain into words. It’s a word thrust into being usually by physical action. Most would think I love because this person did such a thing for me and thus I admire them for it.
But what is love itself to the purest and truest of forms?
To unconditionally love someone regardless how it benefits or affects your life. To wish for their betterment, to give without looking for a return.
To compassionately care for them. To accept them as they are and not as we wish them to be. To understand their flaws and struggles could very well be your own if their circumstances were the same as yours.
The world is portrayed as an unforgiving place with no one that truly cares about your woes. Which at times some and even myself would agree to that statement.
Although this world is filled with good and caring people that wouldn’t wish any ill treatment on another.
I’ve witnessed both sides of the spectrum. Heartless individuals that wouldn’t have a conscious thought of the wrongs they’ve inflicted on another. Which to that effect is up to themselves alone to come to terms and reconcile with.
I’ve also witnessed caring individuals that would do anything for their fellow.
