National Highways has completed the 68-metre Cockcrow Bridge near Cobham, covered in heather and shrubs to blend into the landscape. It reconnects two heathlands split by the A3 in the 1970s and is designed to help grass snakes, adders, toads, badgers, bats and rare birds cross safely. National Highways says it is believed to be the first green bridge of its kind in Britain. Steve Elderkin, director of environmental sustainability at National Highways, said the bridge will “leave a lasting legacy to ensure nature thrives.” Do you think this is worth it?
