This paper of mine with @JamesDean595 is now accepted at the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. James and I continue efforts to bring in longitudinal data regarding income mobility in relation with measures of economic freedom. This time its measures of "low income" (i.e., poverty) and we find that persistent low-income status in Canada is associated with less regulated labor markets and low taxes. We also find that government consumption spending is associated with more persistent low-income statuses. Some personal news: my tenure track position at NDSU will be a budget casualty next May. While I’ve only been in Fargo for a year, I’m thankful for my great colleagues and friends here. I’m not quite sure where I’ll be going next, but I’m excited to see what’s on the horizon.
