@ThomasEWoods The merger broke our anti-trust laws. Blaming this on Biden is ridiculous unless you wanted his administration to just ignore our laws. Don't like them, then advocate to change them.

Spirit Airlines didn't need a "federal bailout." It needed the Biden DoJ to allow its merger with JetBlue But the Biden DoJ, like most dopes on TV, thought: mergers mean bigger and bigger means bad Because they know the optimal size an airline should be

@Uravity98114 I think the real story was that she was sick, and he chose not to take her to the hospital... I don't remember why he didn't take her to the hospital, but it was a case where she was obviously sick, and needed medical attention.

The crux of Johnny Silverhand’s character in 2077 is that he died a bad person and a failure. Nothing in Night City truly changed after he attacked Arasaka, and through V he’s confronted with both his revolutionary and interpersonal failures.
Alexander Thatcher@ThatchEffendi

The plots of Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 both focus on objects in the protagonist's brain that are overwriting their personalities, but Cyberpunk is more fun about it because sometimes the object takes over and gets into a drunk driving accident with a stripper.

@DerekPederson3 The Trump admin would have a lot more success arresting and detaining citizens, and deporting immigrants, if this were true. Bad idea.

You should actually go to jail for saying certain terrible things and the evidence is growing that expanding the First Amendment in the middle of the 20th century was a mistake. Which means both Loomer and Piker should be in prison. I think the UK has the right idea about this.
Sarah Longwell@SarahLongwell25

Because this is America and you don’t go to jail for saying terrible things. You go to jail for *doing* terrible things. Hope that helps.

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

I said this to troll the guy, but I’m not wrong. My only main objection in this fun conversation is how many people accuse the other side of being dumb/evil. (I get it, maps to all political debates.)
Robert P. Murphy@BobMurphyEcon

@ZPostFacto So you should choose red to minimize the number of red people who would commit suicide. If you pick Blue, knowing what you just wrote, you are being selfish.

Fine, people have made some good cases for why you should press the blue button (what about children pressing blue by mistake, they deserve to live, etc), and so now I'm leaning blue, but more importantly, I think we should ban everyone who makes buttons.
Carl@HistoryBoomer

I think people are choosing "blue" because then they can feel noble, but in the real world, with their life on the line, they'd press red. I'd certainly press red! Just have the whole world press red, and nobody dies!

@JaneDoe70213693 Ha, well thank you for the thorough explanation. I disagree with your conclusion but I could just as easily be wrong.

Tailored algorithm does influence which comments show up at the top, etc. Plus it may not be the number of comments that influences per se, but also how emotionally loaded a comment is. The pro-blue comments are a lot more emotionally loaded than the pro-red comments. Enough people don't necessarily want people accusing them of being "bad people" which is what blues are doing towards reds. Reds just think blues are pussies/idiots. I don't care about either judgement, honestly. I chose based on my noob understanding of game theory. Lolol.

If everyone chooses red, everyone survives. Also, having no insight into other's choices, I would rather just assume they are selfish. We cannot assume, going in blind, that a sufficient amount of people is necessarily going to be altruistic; a lot of altruistic behavior is performative, and more people would choose blue if their choice was known by others.
