@JamesODavies Oh wow, would love to see any interior shots if it’s possible at any point. Yes, it’s an interesting little place generally isn’t it - some great, and very varied, buildings along the road there.

Had an unexpected adventure yesterday - a visit to a church led me past some abandoned buildings including; a manor house (with ha-ha) coach house & stables, all largely 1870’s, & an early C20th motor house! I don’t know why they’re so appealing but they are! Photo thread below.

Palladio’s hard-to-photograph Valmarana Chapel, architecture to make even a modernist & an atheist think there might be a bit of God in classicism. An extreme economy of forms: folded-in Corinthian pilasters, facing apses, the thinnest cornice, white sunlight - but 2+2 is 5 here.

The former Renault Building in Swindon, 1981-3 by Foster Associates. “It remains a beautiful expression of architecture and engineering in harmony” - Julian Orbach, revised Wiltshire Pevsner and just recently published.

The British warfare state's embrace of architectural modernism must be amongst the least appreciated aspects of post-war architectural history. Impossible to access behind barbed wire, I'd presumed most of it dreary neo-Geo, but seems there was/is some full blooded stuff.
