@Blue_Footy @JacobsBen But is that new news ... or old news, meaning, "Is it a genuine development in the situation?" Not trying to be awkward, that's a sincere question.

Unpopular: But I think that we don't need to replace Madueke with another winger. We have enough. LW: Gittens | Joao Pedro | George RW: Neto | Estevão | Palmer [emergency] Plus Quenda and Paez come in next summer. If we buy Kudus, for example, Quenda and Paez won't get games, and would ask to leave like Madueke after a year or two. For me, we have enough wingers and forwards who can play on the wings. We also don't need Palmer’s backup. KDH and João Pedro can do that. Paez will come back too. No need to complicate it. This is why we buy versatile players. Use Madueke's money to improve our UEFA FFP situation. If we must spend it, use it on a centre-back. Don't get me wrong, Kudus is a stunning footballer but I'm not sure about spending £60m - £70m on someone who isn't a necessity and will barely start games. That's a waste of funds. But we need to start trusting the young players we have in the pipeline or they will demand to leave in a year or two. And it will become an unending cycle.

Start of the season, it was obvious Maresca set us up to be more progressive than passive. He surprised everyone based on how his Leicester played. All that looked like 10 years ago at the moment, and there are two major reasons for this. 1. Lack of confidence. For us to be progressive and pick out players in the pockets before they are spotted by the opponent, you need confidence to do it without second thoughts. When confidence is low, players second guess every move and start using safer options. That could also be down to inexperience. Experienced pros handle adversity a lot better. 2. Lavia's injury woes. If there is a Chelsea defensive midfielder who's capable of playing with personality even in the toughest game of his career, it's Romeo Lavia. Nothing scares him. Caicedo is damn good with ball progression, but Lavia is different class. Caicedo can decide to play safe in situations Lavia won't mind breaking lines. To play how we want to play with two receivers in the pocket behind the line, we need to find the spare man consistently. We lost confidence and lost that personality. Now, people think Maresca instructed players to play that way. Stats of direct attacks and goals from counterattacks still have Chelsea among the top teams in the Premier League despite our recent poor form. My point is, Maresca didn't change how we play or train the team to be passive, but if I may borrow the words of Cucurella, "half of football is down to confidence." People always miss this point. We will be alright. This phase will pass, and our usual style will return. If Lavia starts against Spurs, you will see progressive football again. It's not rocket science. I can put my last penny on it.

Chelsea will keep getting the stick for selling Gallagher because they have attempted it before. But if Maresca wanted to keep him, he would've done so. Obviously, he had doubts too and just like Chilwell and Sterling that followed, he's very keen on working with players he's 100% sure suit his style. You can't blame him when he had 45-50 players to choose from. So, obviously he felt Lavia is ahead of Gallagher for his football, which means Conor was behind Lavia, Caicedo and Enzo. If he stays, he will hardly start. In all of this, I'm sad we are losing our own boy. It sucks but I'm also glad his career will keep moving up and I will be there to cheer every move, every tackle, every assist and every goal. Good luck, Conor!

When new PSR rules take off, and clubs are only allowed to spend 85% of their revenue, how can Chelsea compete fairly with clubs with big Stadiums that earn £30m - £50m per season more than Chelsea? I'm talking about United, City, Arsenal and Spurs. It seems Chelsea owners have a legitimate reason to rush transfers before this beast sets in.

I have stopped complaining about buying youngsters because the financial landscape in football is going south. Financial experts are predicting financial doom for clubs around the world as wages and agent fees keep skyrocketing while TV revenue is either going down or stagnant. One expert put it this way, "there is little space to improve TV deals in football." Ligue 1's struggle is a good example. The Premier League are trying to introduce salary cap on top of PSR, which a lot of clubs have already failed and others inches away from failing. Imagine how much clubs will be tempted to spend this summer without PSR and FFP. Clubs will go as far as borrowing themselves into trouble just to buy players and pretend that all is well. I think our youngsters have improved and learned a lot heading into the new season, thanks to Pochettino. His work can't be underestimated. Another year of gaining experience and personality, plus additions to the squad, I think we will be good to fight for at least top 3 from 2025/26 season and keep growing from there. It's a gruelling and painful process but I think there is light at the end of the tunnel. Even if we keep going with the kids who have gained experience and improved as a team, we would be fine. This model is needed now. And I dare say that we are ahead of the curve because we have drastically reduced the wage bill, and bought some quality youngsters with world-class potential. It's a matter of when not if before we look like an elite outfit while operating with a modest budget. By then the financial state of more clubs in football would be worse than it is today. But for Chelsea, they will be sitting on assets they can use or sell for profit. I believe we are heading in the right direction. It will be clearer in a couple of years.

@Blue_Footy Pay it! Saw her in the Champions League semi-final at Stamford Bridge. Outstanding. For me, she was the difference between the two teams.

Aitana Bonmati is in the final year of her Barcelona contract and Chelsea are among three English clubs interested in the Ballon d'Or winner. Chelsea is the club most interested in prizing her away and would be willing to pay the €3 million release clause in Bonmati's contract {Mundo Deportivo via Goal}
