@JNucci23 This is the most appropriate analysis I have seen, time to figure out a pathway to a unified golf ecosystem, the fan is hurt most by this chaos and the money is sickening and lessening the competitive edge!

Purely speculative, but my instinct tells me that certain members of the Policy Board flirted a little bit too hard with private equity rather than making good faith efforts to negotiate with the PIF. Rory resigned from the Policy Board just one day after its November 13 meeting, which was followed by Rahm, Finau, and likely Hatton jumping to LIV 3 weeks later. With the no solicitation/poaching clause removed from the Framework Agreement after pressure from the DOJ, LIV’s response to that flirting was to go scorched earth. The $600 million question, however, is whether LIV is throwing this money around: (1) to force the PGA Tour’s hand and strengthen their negotiating position; or (2) because the deal is dead in its entirety. Coming to terms on a Definitive Agreement is still the best course of action for both parties, even if the terms of an agreement have changed in the last 3 days. Justified or not, LIV struggled to find legitimacy with a major chunk of golf fans even after spending ~$1BN on Brooks, DJ, Phil, Bryson, Cam, Sergio, Reed, Bubba. I don’t think spending another $1BN on Rahm, Finau, and Hatton would change that. Partnering with the PGA Tour gives LIV access to broadcasting rights, partners, reputation, and legitimacy. It likely also opens the door to OWGR points. This mess has clearly turned off quite a few fans who may not watch anymore no matter what happens, but I think everybody is tired of the bullshit at this point and ready to move on. Give us a unified tour with all the best players in the world playing against each other consistently that is NOT at the expense of the journeymen on the PGA and DP Tours. Clearly there’s enough money to maintain all of it. Figure it out.
