The liquidity situation in crypto is worsening after the banking fears this month 📉 I dived into several liquidity metrics to give an update on all things crypto liquidity🧵 First, $BTC liquidity has dropped to 10 month lows as market makers lose access to USD payment rails👇

Hi @chrisflood_FTfm, Could you please send me a link to the original report quoted in your article on crypto hedge funds? on.ft.com/2E2uSe1 I can't find a copy of it anywhere. Thanks so much.

0/ @seamusbjh's post is fascinating and provides a broad picture of how technology has progressed across the various epochs. TL;DR: Technology goes through phases of Exploration (creating immense value, adding to the stack) and Exploitation (commoditizing the lower tech layers)

A tour through the history of computer technology by @seamusbjh, providing a useful lens with which to view the cycles of technological development and hopefully prognosticate where we are headed H/t to @James_Kilroe and @JustSwart medium.com/newtown-partne…

@alxcnwy But then who do we hold responsible? Who can the consumer blame? It's as much as a societal issue as anything else? When your driver doesn't perform, you have recourse. Non-gamifiable recourse isn't trivial in a decentralised way. An avg rating doesn't work for serious issues.

@alxcnwy You are 100% right, trust is their primary value. The challenge is how can we let the crowd provide this service? When can the crowd guarantee trust better than a centralized service? What happens if the crowd is right only 90% or 99% of the time? Is this acceptable to users?

@James_Kilroe And there are asymmetrical payoffs to drivers vs. Uber. If there are riders then Uber takes a fat commission, if there are no riders then it costs the driver a lot (car depreciation, petrol, opportunity cost, etc) but costs Uber essentially nothing

@Melt_Dem Yes volume will be, but it can be done with a drone (with accurate location data) and an onboard radar. That level of location accuracy (<1m) will require atomic clock accuracy for time. See mason.gmu.edu/~treid5/Math44… regarding 4 vs. 3 variables.

@James_Kilroe technically GPS only requires 3 coordinates to be viable but i see your point re: data richness. i imagine volume will also be important for anything that requires 3D / multivariate spatial mapping for AR / drones.

1/ a quick thread on protocols focused on location. location data is leveraged by many consumer services (Google Maps, Uber), but also by military and industrial applications. now teams are #blockchain-ing this data to make it tamper-proof (secure), verifiable, and trustless.

@Melt_Dem Another issue is that z (height) is normally more inaccurate. This is an issue for 3D requirements (drones). Cause of geometry reason for GPSs. I haven’t gone into the technical deep dive of PoL protocols yet. So they might have good solutions to these challenges.

@Melt_Dem Technical you need 4 variables (x,y,z,t) to know where you are. So if using GPS, then must lock onto 4 satellites. Big challenge imo is time, all GPS sats have atomic clocks for accurate timing. Project are proposing beacons which may not have same level of t accuracy.
