Began my two-day State Visit to Tanzania today with fruitful talks with Her Excellency President @SuluhuSamia, State House Dar es Salaam. We witnessed the signing of 8 agreements that will significantly broaden and deepen cooperation between our two nations.

He made Musalia mudavadi prime cabinet secretary. He made Moses wetangula speaker of national assembly. He has mentored many young leaders. We are transforming Kiambu County through deliberate development programmes and projects, including KSh43 billion for the construction of 17,000 affordable housing units, 30 modern markets and 8,000-bed hostels in the county. We are also spending KSh18 billion to build roads in the county, and another KSh22 billion for the dualling of the Muthaiga-Kiambu-Ndumberi road to ease traffic congestion. Glad that the Social Health Authority offers insurance to 1.3 million residents in Kiambu and has already paid KSh5.5 billion in the past 15 months, expanding access to quality healthcare. Inspected the ongoing construction of the 1,140-unit Kikuyu Affordable Housing Project, which has employed more than 1,000 young people, Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

We celebrate 100 years of Alliance High School imparting knowledge, discipline, hard work and excellence. I have had the opportunity to interact and work with the school’s alumni, and I can attest that they are among the finest in our country. We will keep supporting the institution to uphold its legacy, investing KSh550 million, including KSh60 million for 40 classrooms, KSh60 million for a sports academy and KSh200 million to improve the road network around the school. At the neighbouring Alliance Girls School, we are also investing KSh155 million for a 640-student dormitory and KSh40 million for 24 classrooms. Congratulations Alliance High School on your centenary celebrations; may Strong To Serve continue to be your rallying call.

Once on the margins of national investment, Northern Kenya is steadily coming into its own under the inclusive development vision of H.E. President @WilliamsRuto. In Garissa, the new 150-metre Garissa Tana River Bridge is now 90% complete, replacing the 43-year-old structure. Upon completion, the dual-carriageway bridge will carry heavy commercial traffic, while the existing bridge will be reserved for pedestrians and light vehicles, easing congestion and strengthening regional trade and mobility. Complementing this progress is the ongoing modernization of Garissa Airstrip, slated for completion in March 2026. The asphalt runway is being extended from 1.2 km to 1.4 km to accommodate larger regional aircraft, a move expected to increase passenger traffic by over 200,000 annually. The upgrade will also bolster government, humanitarian, medical evacuation and security operations, firmly enhancing Northern Kenya's connectivity and economic prospects. Inspected these and other key National Government infrastructure projects in Garissa and the larger Northern Kenya Region.

Alliance High School has been a cornerstone of Kenya’s education sector, producing generations of distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions across all fields of society. Today, together with other leaders, parents, teachers, students and other stakeholders, we joined the President, H.E. @WilliamsRuto for the Founders Day Centenary Celebration of Alliance High School. We remain committed to continued investment in this great institution as we shape a future that empowers the next generation and strengthens a united Kenya. The President also commissioned a new dining hall, opened a 640-bed centennial hostel, and launched the Solarisation Programme for Basic Education Institutions among key infrastructure projects.

To the “high priests of eternal pessimism”: You didn’t believe the economy could be restored; has it stabilised and improved? YES. You didn’t believe in affordable housing; is it happening? YES. You didn’t believe in Universal Health Coverage; is it being implemented? YES. You didn’t believe in the Hustler Fund; is it working? YES. You didn’t believe in the jobs programme; is it on course? YES. You didn’t believe education could be reformed; has it been reformed? YES. …and that’s not even the whole list. The foundations to ensure no Kenyan is left behind are now in place (Bottom-Up). And President Ruto has unveiled the roadmap to take Kenya to the next level. So now I ask: Do you believe the President will deliver the new roadmap for Kenya’s transformation; to move us from the Third to the First World in our lifetime? Be on the right side of history!

In Raila Odinga, Kenya has lost a political giant; a man whose influence, charisma, courage, and steadfast commitment to justice and democracy inspired and shaped generations. A man who always chose Kenya; who, even in the heat of contest and conviction, and at the nation’s most difficult moments, understood that Kenya was greater than any personal ambition. Heartfelt condolences to Mama Ida, the Odinga family, the ODM fraternity, and the people of Kenya.

President Ruto recognised by UN-Habitat as the Global Champion of Adequate Housing for All, in acknowledgment of Kenya’s leadership in tackling the challenge of inadequate housing. On the sidelines of the UNGA in New York, he has proposed a Coalition of Global Housing Champions and brought together 25 countries, the UN, development partners, and local banks to adopt a historic Call for Action on Adequate and Affordable Housing.

President Ruto announces that effective this month UHC staff should be paid as per the SRC guidelines and urges counties to work with the ministry of health to transition them to permanent and pensionable terms.
