@PavlovicNBCS Thank goodness the Giants scored 3 runs instead of 2. Ryan Walker got lucky when the ump called that strike on a high ball too that wasn't challenged. That wasn't a save - it was a survived.

@BaseballJeff1 If Santos does get called up, he'll need a new number since Borucki took his number the day after he got reassigned.

Gregory Santos did not make the team, but he could be one of the first pitchers called up. Really, any reliever in Sacramento is only 3-4 appearances away from being an option for the Giants, but few from that group have the swing-and-miss stuff quite like Santos.

@ShaynaRubin Wonder if Haase has an opt out if he doesn't make the club which seems likely he won't being Susac is a Rule 5.

If it’s between Encarnacion and Matos, Giants should go with Matos and take their chances in waivers with Encarnacion. He’s got pop, but at 28 I think a lot of orgs have someone *like* him.

@BaseballJeff1 I don't think Goldschmidt is ready to admit that he is a platoon/bench player and probably would not even entertain that idea. Even so, I think he would be a terrible fit for the Giants.

Paul Goldschmidt is the not the same player he once was, but would be a fun addition by the Giants as a platoon bat at 1B/DH. He was 8th in baseball last season (Min. 80 PA) with a 169 wRC+ against left-handed pitching.

@susanslusser I see on the Giants website that he will wearing #9 which was Matt Williams' number.

Harrison Bader pulled the ball in the air 23.8% of the time last year, with a lot of that contact coming down the line. There was a subtle shift in his spray chart more down the line, potentially due to an increase in bat speed...

@elarturochacon @susanslusser @sfchronicle Sometimes I feel the same way but I know we don't really know what's going on behind-the-scenes and am sure Buster and Co. are doing what they think is best for the ball club. I have faith in Buster. We will only truly know after the 2026 season is completed.

@susanslusser @sfchronicle No coaching staff announced still and basically a “hey we don’t have a much of a plan but we hope it all works out” approach. Truly ridiculous after so many mediocre seasons and Buster talking as if he would be operating differently.
