Australian Prime Hard - A new premium wheat quality grade for Vic and SA.
AGT wheat variety Sunmaster is now available with an Australian Prime Hard (APH) quality classification in both Victoria and South Australia.
Historically, Australian Hard (AH) has been the highest quality classification available for wheat in Victoria and South Australia. However, recent changes to the Australian wheat quality classification system has opened up opportunities for APH wheat to be grown outside of NSW and Queensland.
This may be of particular interest to farmers who have previously grown Suntop wheat – the predecessor to Sunmaster, and being familiar with its agronomic traits might be interested in planting the newer, higher yielding Sunmaster variety with a view to achieving APH quality.
While no APH segregations or delivery points currently exist in Vic or SA, these may develop in response to wider growth of APH classified varieties in these areas.
