In our recent meta-analysis with trained athletes, did the athletes who improved their VO2max more also improve their endurance performance more?🤔 No! 😮 In this dataset, +1% change in VO2max was associated with only +0.04% change in TT performance. But why? 1/15🧵

INDUSTRY BIAS IN NUTRITION RESEARCH? One type of bias is publication bias (aka desk draw bias) Not publishing some studies due to the direction or strength of their findings eg. if findings do not conform to a hypothesis Is there evidence of this bias in nutrition research?

@JanWvanDijk Interesting piece of work. Given the higher rates of upper limb injuries, particularly fractures within racing, it would be interesting to see if the inclusion of upper limb-ballistic type exercises has a similar effect on UL BMD as what is shown in your lower limb intervention

13/ 📝 Yes, this is a small study with limitations. Still, we believe the findings add valuable insights into the potential uses and limitations of CGM in (Para) athletes. Want to explore more? Link to full paper is in first message, it is available #openaccess in @EurJSportSci.

Lessons Learned from Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) in Para Cyclists 1/ CGM is increasingly explored as a tool to optimize dietary counseling in athletes. What can we learn from its application in Para athletes? Our new study investigated this: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ej… 🧵
