@KvernadzeG @LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus Well I can also mention hundreds of Georgians calling us barbarians(conservative grp) or how Russia started the war in Abkhazia(liberal group). These details have only some importance because people are not static.

@Janberk_Axba @LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus Yet even that Abkhaz world account has at times either justified the ethnic cleansing or claimed there were no atrocities committed by the Abkhaz against Georgians. Probably why he finally blocked me. For bringing this simple point multiple times.

Today, #Abkhazia celebrates Independence Recognition Day. 16 years ago, on August 26, 2008, following the five-day Russo-Georgian War, #Russia officially recognized the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia as independent states by decree of then-President Dmitry Medvedev. Later, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Nauru, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, and Syria also recognized them. Most of the international community supports Georgia's territorial integrity and views these regions as Georgian territories occupied by Russia. The video by "Apsny Media," compiled from archival footage, begins with a speech by the first President of Abkhazia, Vladislav Ardzinba. When Russia recognized Abkhazia, he was already seriously ill and passed away in 2010. This morning, the President and other leaders of Abkhazia visited his grave to honor his memory. @KvernadzeG @LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus I answered both in my other reply but it is certainly immoral and bad. As an Abkhaz I would have liked to see court martial for both sides. But I will always state my opposition whenever I hear some GE lib crying out "Apartheid" without mentioning a word about their crimes.

@Janberk_Axba @LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus 2. Was it justifiable? And I don't mean whether it makes sense or not that it happened, given the full context. I mean if the suffering of the innocents just because they were gGeogian was a morally and/or legally justified.

Abkhaz World@AbkhazWorld·
Quick facts for some Western journalists and commentators who might need a refresher on Abkhazia: ◾️Abkhazia is a partly recognised state, not just a footnote in someone else's narrative. ◾️No, Abkhazia was not invaded in 2008. Georgia did not lose Abkhazia in 2008 either. Georgia has had no control over Abkhazia since 1993, after losing the war it started in 1992. youtu.be/20ZIdVV2-jY?si… & youtu.be/orNTycazJZg?si… Even during the Soviet era, Abkhazia and Georgia were part of the administrative framework of the USSR. During this period (1931-1991), Abkhazia was not part of an independent Georgian entity. By the way, Abkhazia only republic whose political status was downgraded rather than upgraded by Stalin (Dzhugashvili), which aimed to destroy Abkhazian state and identity. This was the Stalinist (with Beria [Mingrelian]) era. abkhazworld.com/aw/history/499… ◾️Post-war Abkhazia suffered under heavy embargoes imposed by both Georgia and Russia abkhazworld.com/aw/blogs/1791-… During that period, relations between Russia and Georgia were, of course, not like they are now. In 1994, they signed the Treaty of Russian-Georgian Friendship, Good Neighborliness, and Cooperation. Until 2001, Russia had three military bases in Georgia. x.com/CaucasusWorld/… ◾️Embargo lifted only after Putin came to power. ◾️ In 2008, Russia recognised Abkhazia's independence. For those tossing around "occupation" claims, perhaps read our response to Bloomberg: abkhazworld.com/aw/blogs/1609-… ◾️Yes, Russia's influence is significant, but that's a result of international isolation pushed by Georgia, not occupation. Recognition or even cooperation from others might change that dynamic. x.com/AbkhazWorld/st… ◾️For years, Freedom House rates both Georgia and Abkhazia as "partially free", unlike some neighbouring regions labeled "not free." abkhazworld.com/aw/current-aff… ◾️ The current protests are only against the corrupt policies of Bzhania and his team. ◾️ And of course, we are aware that while Russia recognises our independence, it might not be thrilled about us gaining wider international ties, which don't always align with Moscow's strategic interests. As historian Stanislav Lakoba aptly said: "Some say Abkhazia is Russia, others say it's Georgia, but the fact is that Abkhazia is Abkhazia. We want to preserve our own identity." So before crafting simplistic narratives, a bit of homework might be in order.

Meanwhile, whe ignorance of some Western media outlets, journalists, and independent commentators on the subject of Abkhazia is astonishing. Journalism should not be this simplistic. Many of them appear to be suffering from the Dunning-Kruger syndrome.

@KvernadzeG @AbkhazWorld This is why I dont care too much about Abkhazia, especially after them wanting a confederation right before GE invaded them. It is criminal, but they were forced to act the way they acted. The main critique here must be towards capitalist state. That's a lot more important.

@KvernadzeG @AbkhazWorld I dont claim that every capitalist state has the same policy towards ethnic minorities, so Abkhazia can be attacked in many particular ways. But every capitalist state starts with the majority ethnic group asserting dominance over the land.

@KvernadzeG @AbkhazWorld This is still a crime, but the native reactions to genocidal intent like these are quite ferocious everywhere. Given the context I wrote above, expecting the Abkhaz to act differently would have been optimistic.

@KvernadzeG @AbkhazWorld Burning the state archive, GE soldiers acting like animals everywhere and GE Chief of Staff Karkarashvili's open threat of committing genocide while he was in Aqwa sealed the fate of Georgians in Abh.

@KvernadzeG @AbkhazWorld So yes, isolation of Abkhazia is also tied to expulsion of the Georgians from there after the war; but this comment becomes trivial if you think about what options that the Abkhaz forced to have back in 90s. Especially after a war with genocidal intent that Georgia started.

@KvernadzeG @AbkhazWorld You imply that ethnic cleansing of all non-georgians in abh would've been easily ignored by the rest of the world if you had won the war. With this logic one can say the expulsion of georgians was a necessity for natives defend their existence against the coloniser.

@LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus It doesn't become historical Georgian land because you or Ingorokva says so. I don't deny common aspects, but our land has never been yours. Btw every locality has the right to secede. Your historical land argument is wrong from the start, even if it had a true claim.

@LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus Also why were the Georgians more numereous than the Abkhaz in Abkhazia? Can it be because of the Circassian Genocide and Stalin ordering around? Georgian population surpassed ours because of Kremlin's actions, which you tried to exploit in 1992 by finishing us for good.

@LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus We are not nor have never been a historical part of Georgia, but you can keep believing that too. I dont deny the common aspects of culture&history, but we are not your slaves to command. Your patronizing attitude shows once again that you are the main problem before Russia.

@LadoGrdz @JAMnewsCaucasus Thanks, I never denied this tho. Maybe ask yourself why these people were deported? Can it be because of the trauma your bandits caused from Ochamchira to Gagra? Because of the genocide threat your chief of staff made in Sukhum? Your poisonous nationalism caused this reaction.
