To be clear, I’m not saying that everything needs to be perfect and polished before handing off. What I am saying is that if you already know what the behavior of the feature should be, then document it. Then convos w/ devs are focused on true unknowns rather than missing info 4/

But it’s another thing entirely when engineers have to ask lots of questions about the feature whose answers you already knew, but failed to capture in your written specs. Reduce the extra, unnecessary back and forth. 3/

I'm not loving that the graphql-ruby gem's docs are just "here's what you can do" without much guidance in regards to perhaps what you SHOULD do. Would love any resources y'all have!

#GraphQL friends! I'm looking for resources for GraphQL best practices in Rails (types vs resolver organization, field level authorization, etc). Tutorials I've been looking at are a bit too basic in those regards

@dustinsgoodman Like, I know what interpretation of that word it’s supposed to be, but my brain just can’t unlink it from the alternative 🙃 I inwardly cringe every time someone uses it

@JanessaGarrow I had someone point this out to me 2 years ago and ngl, I never thought twice about it before that moment. Then they pointed it out and I was like "oh yeah... that was really bad." Ever since - I stopped using the word and have trained my teams on the same.

Can we as a tech industry stop using the term “grooming” 😖 “refining” is RIGHT THERE and is a far less cringe-inducing word

Not an attorney, but my most recent jury duty summons was for a homicide case that was anticipated to over 6 weeks: Me: *34+ weeks pregnant* Judge: Well, we can see you’re pregnant Male atty: Why do you believe pregnancy would cause undue hardship in participating in this case?
Meera Deo@meeradeo

My most recent attempt: Atty: What’s your profession? Me: Teacher. Atty: What do you teach? Me: Law. Atty: Which courses? Me: Civ Pro. And Evidence. … Judge: Juror, we thank and excuse you.

@ceeoreo_ Having kids has forced me (in a good way) to be more flexible and adaptable, but also to be better about setting boundaries. I’ve had to get better at time management and prioritizing to reduce my stress levels. I plan all the things now or they don’t happen 😅

I have a question for parents in tech, especially moms. How has having children impacted your career? I wanna hear the good, the bad and the ugly. Tell me whatever you’re comfortable sharing :P

@ralex1993 @remix_run Gotcha gotcha. Our React app just doesn’t use a framework rn, so I’ve been putting together notes and things around why we should move to Remix. My interest was very piqued with the Rails comment haha

@ralex1993 @remix_run “The folks working in Rails say they really like Remix” Say more 👀 I’m trying to figure out how to encourage Remix adoption at work and our backend services are all Rails
