I am officially endorsing Mr. Mwaura Kabata for the Law Society of Kenya presidency.
The campaign period has unfortunately been dominated by personality attacks instead of substantive agendas on what each candidate intends to deliver while in office. Kabata has demonstrated the leadership, vision, and commitment needed to take care of the welfare of Advocates and to restore dignity and focus within the Society.
My support is grounded on issues, delivery, and the future of the legal fraternity. Strong, steady, and issue-driven ; that is the leadership that defines Mwaura Kabata.

Esteemed seniors, we are because you are. You crawled so we can fly. Your constant sacrifices in the interests of justice and public good are our moral and ethical northstar. That you still remain active figures in shaping the affairs of our society is a humbling privilege. We appreciate you, we respect you, and we undertake to honour you through leadership you can be proud of and take part in.
Friends, join me tomorrow as we launch the #SDGManifesto, our Blueprint for Progress Beyond Promises.

I believe myself to have crossed into the demographic group of the mid Bar. A group so crucial to our Society and yet often forgotten as we set the agenda and trajectory of the Bar. Striking the balance between personal life and career advancement is ever so difficult at the critical stage of life we are in. The least we could ask for is an LSK that listens to us, appreciates our needs, and cares for our welfare. That is what my Presidency shall look like for all of you.
Friends, join me tomorrow as we launch the #SDGManifesto, our Blueprint for Progress Beyond Promises.

TOMORROW. The Vision Becomes Clear.
After years of listening, serving, and delivering, the moment is finally here. Tomorrow, we don’t just launch a manifesto; we launch a blueprint for our future.
This is more than a plan.
It’s a pledge to put members first.
It’s a promise to build progress beyond promises.
It’s a commitment to lead with integrity, inclusion, and impact.
Get ready. Be inspired. Join the movement.
Together, we rise. Twende Nalo!

Our team led by VP @mwaurakab presented the @LawSocietyofKe's Memorandum on the planned sale of 15% stake in Safaricom PLC to Vodacom. While the divestiture has been coached as a short-term breathing room to absorb the shock of fiscal pressures, the same raises concerns over foregone dividend income, legal compliance, and constitutional requirements.
The surrender of the Government's majority position to Vodacom undermines national interest as it would enable market dominance by a foreign monopoly. Further, the divestiture fails to rationalise the valuation methodology, timing or structure of the proposed sale, creating an opaque situation which is less than ideal. We also note that the protection of minority shareholders is not guaranteed, and investors may find themselves exposed to unforeseen shocks.
Our memorandum proposes that half of the divestiture be allocated to retail investors through the NSE; the divestiture be postponed independent and transparent valuation and sale structures are established; and impact assessments be undertaken on the fiscal feasibility, data protection concerns, and continuity of contractual relationships.
We urge that the sessional paper as presented in its present form be rejected until these consequential considerations are made.
