@rugbycath @theSNP I was having a discussion with my wife's friend about this, she said we'll just use the pound. I tried to explain that the BOE would still control it. She then said we could use a Scottish pound, I explained this would be a brand new currency. Still didn't get it.

Reading posts on Facebook about which currency an Independent Scotland would use. I absolutely despair. They range from 'it's our pound' to 'A Scot created the Bank of England'. @theSNP core vote really isn't the brightest.

@_JamieMcIntyre @UnrepentantYoon It’s what a civilised country does: support its less wealthy areas by pooling and sharing. Wouldn’t a post-Scexit Scotland do the same? Or would it make every region stand on its own feet financially?

@UnrepentantYoon Really. So what's your answer to this: (according to you) Scotland is a massive drain on the UK, meanwhile half of Scots want to leave. Surely that's the perfect opportunity for the UK Government to jettison this 'burden'? But instead they refuse - why? (it's not brotherly love)

Genuine question: how can a unionist put Scotland first? It isn't possible.

If you vote for Zack Polanski next week you seriously need to think about what you are doing. The bloke is a nut job. The Green Party has nothing to with green issues anymore.

@Reddleman2020 @gracebrod1e @theSNP @JohnSwinney John Swinney went to America to plead the case of whisky producers and laid the groundwork for this announcement. The U.K. Government did nothing but criticise him for going. John Swinney could’ve been there but wasn’t because of the election.

The @theSNP and @JohnSwinney have really blundered with their claim they secured the Whisky tariff removal. When something is so clearly proved to be a lie it makes voters start to question what else they are blatantly lying about. Huge strategic error so close to election.

I agree with @BethRigby how do you shake off the fact that Zack Polanski said he could increase the size of a women’s boobs by thought alone. It is weird, was weird and can’t be dismissed as ‘it was 13 years ago’ or ‘I wasn’t a politician then’.

@tractorgirly I’m in the Borders. Not a candidate but a canvasser for the LibDems came to our door. My husband told him rather forcefully that as they don’t know what a woman is, they’ll not be getting his vote!

@1goodtern That doesn’t surprise me. I’m 6 years with LC, every post about it still has idiots claiming Covid doesn’t exist/I’m vax damaged/I’m obviously a public sector worker just claiming disability payments.

The replies that were made to the long covid post were less sympathetic, even though the description of the symptoms was word for word the same.

I did an experiment two weeks ago. I posted a request in two very similar fb groups, asking for advice in one on how to support 'someone with Long Covid', and in the other 'someone with a complicated post-viral condition'. Four observations about the replies:

@sappholives83 Ken Follet, pillars of the earth series…follows descendants of a city in England, goes from the death of the heir in the White Ship 1100, through the plague on to at least the 1800s.

Can anyone recommend me a good book either about or set in medieval Europe? Alternate history, non-fiction, and historical fiction are all welcome. I get these obsessions with different historical periods, and right now I’m stuck in the Middle Ages, having already explored WWII, the USSR under Stalin and into the Kruschev thaw, the American Civil War, and the Russian revolution. I know that’s not a long list, but I’ve read fairly exhaustively on each subject over the course of three or four years. I’d appreciate any suggestions, including books written in the medieval period, provided there’s an English translation.
