My word. This is incredible. A real-life version of that scene from The Life of Brian: "Stan, you haven't got a womb! Where's the foetus going to gestate?! You going to keep it in a box?!"

I have so much admiration for Keir Starmer in the face of such continued onslaught by the media. Quite simply, he doesn’t deserve it, and a pity that so many cannot see the wood for the trees, so to speak. Inexorably, he is turning this country around, and that’s not something you do easily or overnight. It’s been less than 2 years for fuck sakes. We need to stick with him. Now is ABSOLUTELY NOT the time for a change of Prime Minister. End of. @UKLabour #StandWithStarmer #StickWithStarmer #BackOffBurnham, you disloyal and silly little opportunist, you. x.com/kitbradshaw/st…

@JanneyNick @JamesAl56594884 @Jenny_1884 @amg_england I would agree re. Real Labour Party. Starmer is a watered down Tory. But I’m not sure what alternative would suit the working classes better? I don’t think there is unless they bring in a new leader with a true socialist ideology. But they were unsuccessful last time (Corbyn)

The Greens are the party of the working class. We are not here to play tag along to Starmerism with a northern accent.

Nicola Sturgeon passed her driving test aged 53. Her schedule and work life had stood in the way of her doing something as normal as learning to drive. Is it really THAT unimaginable that her and her husband had become so distant and estranged that they didn’t “socialise” or go on holiday? If you ask me, this is a tragic state of affairs. The party money was stolen. Not tax payer public funds. Party money. SNP members are the victim of this fraud, but at the heart of the story is a woman who was possibly living in a challenging, and potentially dysfunctional marriage, who was betrayed.

Deadnaming a trans person with malicious intent in this day and age, is just beyond cruel. If Q wanted to be known by their old name, they'd use it. But they obviously don't. This makes me so angry and makes me despair if this is what we call reasonable debate
The Spectator@spectator

Before being elected MSP for Edinburgh and Lothians East, Q Manivannan – who is a biological male and whose original first name is Srivatsan, but who now uses the pronouns they/them – told party members that they were ‘a queer Tamil immigrant’ from a ‘lower caste’ background. This qualified them to speak for the ‘working class and marginalised’ because they often went ‘hungry and because I was starved… worked and lied and begged.’ According to a Sunday Times investigation, this account doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. It transpires that Manivannan actually hails from an upper-middle class family in Chennai, one of India’s wealthiest cities. While the MSP claims to be the descendant of panoply of underworld exotics, of ‘courtesans, dancers, musicians, hunters and prostitutes’, the Green politician’s father reportedly has degrees in chemical engineering and business administration and their mother had a career in academia. The young Manivannan attended a private school, a private liberal arts and law university, and in 2019 went to work at a consultancy in Delhi which helps the super-rich gain places at international universities. This is all rather awkward for a Scottish Green party that wants to abolish private schools. ✍️ Patrick West Article | spectator.com/article/q-mani…

@1tarnlad It isn’t. Yes there is and that’s often problematic. No it doesn’t, it isn’t one and shouldn’t be. Sure, that’d be helpful. It is. No it isn’t, but significant improvements can be made if the political will and consistency of direction are there. No it doesn’t.

Nigel Farage says of the NHS, “I do not want it funded through general taxation. It doesn’t work”. It does work. And it’s cheap. The “funding model” isn’t the problem. Using the NHS as a political football, and stripping it for parts to enrich cronies, is.

While Farage pockets millions as a "reward" for Brexit, the rest of us are left with soaring energy bills, political chaos and a broken economy. He only cares about himself and his wealthy donors. It is up to all of us to make sure he never becomes prime minister.

Agreed. Best we pay more taxes and much higher energy bills very quickly to stop these temperatures occurring. I’m also in favour of direct taxation via income tax immediately to pay for the green transition. Companies and farmers in particular should be hit hard as they cause the problems. Tax Tax Tax!!!

Farage is taking political donations into new territory and to new levels. The influence of big money in UK politics can no longer be ignored. Wealthy people, big business, and foreign-linked money are finding new ways into the system - from companies to cryptocurrency. The danger is clear: politicians make decisions based on the interests of their donors, not the country. Rather than play political whack-a-mole trying to close the latest loophole in donations - crypto being the very latest - we should deal with the root problem. A complete ban on political donations is simple, clear and enduring. No donations means no loopholes. And no influence. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
