Thrilled to present our unpublished work on how dendritic cells decode LNP-embedded antigenic cargo at the @ESGCT meeting in Rome (bit overwhelmed by the amount of people though😱). For all DC and LNP lovers, come find me at 15h3O in Parallel session B.

Everything set up at the @KU_Leuven Irish college for the tumor immunology and immunotherapy research day. Looking forward to for the first time present some of our unpublished work on cDC1-sensing of dying cancer cells.

I am exceptionally proud of this work. Here we address how the #UPR signal transducer IRE1 is activated by unfolded proteins. This remains an unresolved fundamental question, despite nearly thirty years of research! I hope it is well received by the #ProteinHomeostasis community.
Journal of Cell Biology@JCellBiol

Simpson, Grey, Lencer et al. @BostonChildrens find that IRE1α binds a metastable structural motif in cholera toxin and other proteins that activate the UPR with implications for how binding may be linked to IRE1α activation. hubs.la/Q02rZhbN0 #ProteinHomeostasis

Super proud of this paper! We show that the thymus is more than a T cell producer, and during type 1 immunity can produce peripheral homing ILC1s! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Interested in dendritic cell biology and/or IRE1 signaling? Ready for a new challenge in the city of Ghent? If the answer is 2x yes, please check the VIB website for open positions for a PhD student jobso.id/har5 and a postdoc jobso.id/har8 in the @JanssensLab

So now we finally know why IRE1β behaves as it does: it just needs its partner in crime, AGR2, to calm down.

AGR2 is a pretty interesting protein, especially upon mutation of H117 to Y: this causes massive inflammatory phenotypes in patients. Turns out that the H117Y mutant is also completely incapable of blocking IRE1β activity!
