Today, Japan signed a contribution agreement with the World Bank for $2.08 million to the ARTF. This funding will support people in need and promote livelihoods of vulnerable Afghans, including women and youth. Japan stands with the Afghan people.

Japan is proud to partner with UN Women in launching a new $826,666 initiative to support returnee women and girls. Through women-only safe spaces, the project will provide livelihood assistance and protection services, contributing to dignity, safety, and sustainable recovery.

Pleased to announce that @JapanGov, in cooperation with @UNICEFafg and through JICA, has launched a new project to support polio eradication and immunization in Afghanistan. Japan remains firmly committed to protecting every child and leaving no one unprotected.

Kabul faces a growing water crisis, but we are taking a vital step forward. UNOPS, with @JapanGov and @JICA, has signed a USD 9.3M project to strengthen climate resilience for 150,000 people through community-led infrastructure. #Afghanistan #ClimateResilience

Message from Ambassador MASAMOTO of Japan: Deeply saddened by the recent heavy snowfall which reportedly caused 61 fatalities and 110 injuries. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims and express sympathy to their families. I wish a swift recovery to all those affected.

@JapanGov We will deliver the assistance through partners such as the UN agencies, Int’l organizations and Japanese NGOs. Japan’s cumulative contribution to AFG since August 2021 will be more than 549 million USD.

Pleased to announce that @JapanGov has decided additional 19.5 million USD assistance for Afghanistan, covering both humanitarian and basic human needs. We hope this assistance will make a difference in the lives of vulnerable Afghans in need.

Honoured to receive a humanitarian shipment from Japan to support the @ARCSAfghanistan's response to the recent earthquake in northern Afghanistan. At the handover ceremony, Amb. Kenichi Masamoto said: “I hope that the emergency relief goods will reach swiftly to those most in need. The people of Japan stand in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan especially at difficult time.”

This morning, emergency relief goods provided through @JICA arrived at Kabul Airport, and were handed over to @IFRC Afghanistan and @ARCSAfghanistan. The items, including blankets and sleeping pads, will be transported to northern provinces affected by the 3 Nov earthquake.

I express my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy for the large number of casualties and extensive damage caused by the earthquake in northern Afghanistan that occurred on November 3, 2025. We stand in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan during this difficult time and stand ready to provide necessary assistance. At this point, we have not received any information on Japanese casualties, but the Government will continue to gather information and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals. I sincerely wish for the quick rescue and search operations as well as the quick recovery of those who are affected. Japan is monitoring the situation and stands ready to support the affected people.
