We’ve Had to “Hunker in the Bunker” Just over 2 weeks ago, Janet and I and our 2 dogs left our residence to move into the Command Center where the @usembassyjlm is overseeing the well-being of the 700,000 Americans who live in Israel. We’ve slept on cots since moving into our “temporary home”, made our meals using a microwave and hot plate, and been awakened more times than I can count due to the startling scream of sirens indicating a missile attack. But we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world right now. Why? Because what the US under @POTUS is doing is necessary and consequential and it is to protect America and to put “America First.” It’s one of the most historic military operations in US history—just for the level of assets our nation has moved to the region and the unprecedented and seamless partnership with Israel to end the threat of the Iranian regime. This all started in 1979 when Iran underwent a revolution and the overthrow of the then government. The new extremist Islamic regime launched their reign of terror with the storming of the US Embassy in Tehran and the taking of 52 American Embassy diplomats and holding them for 444 days as hostages. They have never changed their message. It’s always been “Death to America!” Americans are naïve to say this operation is Israel’s war and it has nothing to do with America. It’s ALWAYS been about America. The Iranian regime has killed thousands of Americans directly and through its terror proxies like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. It has supplied money and weaponry that has killed or maimed both US soldiers and civilians. It has attempted to assassinate President Trump as well as senior US diplomats. And it has engaged in cyber war and a carefully designed “message war” through the media to divide and conquer our nation. @realDonaldTrump tried repeatedly to negotiate a peaceful conclusion that took the aspiration of a nuclear weapon and the will to use it out of the hands of these terrorists. His engagement militarily in the summer of 2025 during the 12 Day War should have sent a clear message. The Iranian “Extreme Leader” failed to get it. In the South where I grew up, there’s the expression that there’s “No education in the 2nd kick of a mule!” If the mule’s first kick didn’t teach one something, getting another kick probably won’t teach the lesson either! The Iranian regime seems oblivious to what should be obvious. Neither the US nor Israel will stand by helplessly as Iran builds a weapon that it builds for the sole purpose of carrying out a threat it’s made for 47 years. And THIS is why we have to “Hunker in the Bunker” while President Trump does what other Presidents promised but didn’t deliver—the defeat of the Iranian regime and the destruction of their crazed capacity to send nuclear weapons to America.

U.S./Israeli war now reportedly expanding into Iranian oil infrastructure, something Lindsey Graham has been advocating for months. If this is true, the likelihood of Iranian replying in kind against Israeli energy targets - or more likely/dangerously, Gulf gov’s oil facilities in the region allied w US - and expanding the war in ways that will cause wider and longer lasting interruptions to global energy supplies will rise. It won’t bring the Iranians to their knees, but it will increase the violence and suffering in the Middle East.
