China just made AI literacy mandatory for teachers. The Ministry of Education rolled out the “AI + Education” action plan, officially adding AI to the teacher qualification exam. The policy also pushes smart systems for lesson prep, auto-grading, and even analyzing classroom behavior

Checking in on US News… Baffling misunderstanding of time zones - Trump said the deadline is Tuesday, but that’s Wednesday here in Israel so… “a real mixup” “Holy Thursday” and “Soley Sunday” ? Shopkeepers are suffering (closed during this Holy Week) Iran is “clapping back” 🙃

4 years ago we were on day 12 of what would be a 70 day lockdown in Shanghai To this day we stockpile basic supplies Talking with a friend today, explaining the stockpiles, and telling them we needed to stock up on basic needs, they said we were victims of “stock home syndrome”

Our apartment management ran out of drinking water, so a black market popped up today A guy shares a video on wechat of a place behind some building and I go there to find he’s got a bunch of eggs and water Prices high, but ok - RMB 32 for a 24 pack Day 12 of Covid lockdown

@MarkFlegm I had mine last week - Saturday morning at around 8:30, and it was unannounced. It was the first in a few years and I thought something must have happened but then it was just the usual quick peep at the passport and done.

Well, the seatbelt sign getting turned off might be slightly delayed. Just got a message the police will be at my apartment at 5pm for a Residency Check (making sure they know where all the American's are located?) Haven't had one of these in years.

Zero possibility that this arrangement on my bathroom sink will end in disaster after waking up at 6 am, having billed 15 hours the day before…

On a recent walk in Shanghai, I saw this row of first floor apartments where every one on the street had windows repurposed as little shops. You step up on the stones, order, pay with your phone and get cigarettes, groceries, fireworks. #shanghai entrepreneurs at the core.

Do you have a wildly optimistic vision of the future of lawyers and AI? Tell me. I want to hear it👇

@Invers77644750 @jkubicki A pedigree degree won’t, but a license will. Unauthorized practice of law is a very serious moat for AI, with very serious implications. You don’t need a license to do software development, but you do for practicing law.

@jkubicki @JaredTNelson If AI can dominate software development and finance, law would be easy. It could also cross exam existing law, exposing flaws humans miss. So we can stop things like 9 different answers from 11 calls about the same issue to the IRS. A pedigree degree won’t save them.

@ryanmckeen TL;DR lawyers who are bad at managing juniors - giving vague instructions, unclear deliverables, and gaping voids for the context and value of the task - are very likely to experience similarly bad results with AI (and likely to blame AI the same way they blame “kids these days”)

@ryanmckeen As I have watched many lawyers try out AI, those who have this type of background tend to have immediate adoption with high levels of success. Those who had less standardized practices had failure, frustration, and dismissal of AI as a concept.

Lawyers, managing an AI bot is a lot like managing a process or a junior team member. Clear instructions. Critical review. Quality control. Sound familiar?
