@AdamMGrant No. I teach my students to take good notes and WHY computers are a bad tool for that. We then use computers in productive ways. TEACHERS understand this - a POLICY does not. Stop tying our hands with top-down oversimplifications.
English

@ranjSingh99 @AdamMGrant Exactly. And this makes computers a bad tool for taking notes (for learning). And I say this as a teacher who has gone out of my way to have more computers in my class than any other teacher.
It does not mean we should get rid of them. They are a great tool-just not for notes.

It’s the speed limit that makes it work.
You can type as fast as someone speaks, so you default to Court Reporter mode, mindlessly transcribing verbatim.
You can't write that fast. You are forced to make a micro-decision on every sentence : 'Does this matter?"
The learning happens in that split-second of active filtering before the ink hits the page.

@gametolearnmb I still need to be reimbursed for my purchased materials. Can someone please respond to my email or insta message? Thank you so much. :)

@57bearpaws57 @admired_art @gunsnrosesgirl3 That's nonsense.
The phone is new, so it can perform order of operations. The old calculator only does one operation at a time and leaves it up to the user to enter things in correctly.
English

@admired_art @gunsnrosesgirl3 Correct math. When + (or -) appears in front of a “x” sign, you must assume that brackets are implied around the 2 numbers to be added and that total is multiplied. In other words…… CORRECT: (50+50) x 2 = 200. WRONG: 50 + (50x2) = 150.
English

@gunsnrosesgirl3 Old low-end calculators don't do order of operations.

@LakotaMan1 In Canada, that weekend is Thanksgiving which is (slowly) moving away from its colonial roots. We also have an Indigenous Peoples Day in June. Celebrating Columbus is, honestly, absurd.

@laidlawllc @LaidlawSchool I just had to change the filament on our Ultimaker today too. It turns out that it is a lot easier if you don't use up the last of the previous spool...
English

Shout out to these Laidlaw TV producers who figured out how to change the filament of the 3D printers to a beautiful new white colour during Flex Time. What can’t these two do!? Let the 3D design begin! @LaidlawSchool

@Quintaine Hey. Don't blame the controller. I have two of them and they work great. My living room has not imploded even once.

@FrontierCentre @ConradMBlack Is he still a 'Sir'? He's had his OC and PC removed.
English

I recently had the honour of hosting a luncheon event to a sold out crowd in Winnipeg where Sir @ConradMBlack didn't hold back his thoughts on Canada. And now, you can watch and listen to this exclusive conversation. Listen on any podcast app or YouTube.

@JeffNelsonjock @FrontierCentre @ConradMBlack Not at all, Fraud and obstruction of justice in the U.S. meshes up with their past leadership perfectly.

No-nonsense leadership could turn Canada into a global superpower in under 5 years. Here’s how. Here's Part 2 of our conversation with Lord @ConradMBlack

@privileg3x @KariLake Are you familiar with the term 'sample bias'? Just curious...

@tully2057 @NoWayNoHow7 @DougEyolfson Unless you had parents who were anti-vax, you would have gotten it as a matter of course on a normal schedule, yes.
English

@NoWayNoHow7 @DougEyolfson Yah looked into it, I think a lot of us get that
English

I was concerned about the influence of the anti-vax movement long before COVID. Diseases that were almost extinct (example: polio) are making a comeback. The anti-vax movement is responsible for increasing numbers of preventable deaths.

Science denial makes me so mad. Cults of misinformation and disinformation (of many different types and causes) are at the root of so many tragedies around the planet.

This is the cost of misinformation regarding vaccines. A disease that does not need to exist any longer makes a comeback in an area that is a hotbed of disease enthusiasts. It is the children that will suffer needlessly through no fault of their own. cbc.ca/news/canada/ma…

@RonFilipkowski He's not even necessarily wrong - but he really doesn't think out the consequences of what he says...
If he had finished with 'people need to talk more about alternatives with their psychiatrists/doctors' it would have been a PSA...
English

@hiebzky To be fair, that's his job as leader as the opposition. Once active campaigning starts and he shows how little he has in terms of solutions, that will be a different matter. Unfortunately, the people who take him seriously aren't too big on facts...

@MikeASperrazza @alexbruesewitz Are you all really that stupid down there that you can't recognize a deliberate attempt at humour? Or just so twisted and cynical that you think others will believe it and think the ends justifies the means and share it anyways?
English

@alexbruesewitz How many Freudian slips will this man have?!?! Sheesh.
